Horn is embarrassing!

Seriously, this 4runner horn is ridiculous. I'm not a big horn user, but the other day when I used it for the first time I was surpised at it's lack of authority. It sounds like a debarked chihuahua. I'm wondering if it would have changed my mind had I tried it during the test drives. I'm sure not, but thinking about changing it out anyway.

Has anyone upgraded their horn?

there are several threads re the 2010 4runner horn. Just search this forum (horn or fiamm) and you will find some.

I hate this horn. Agree it's an embarrassment. I have written to Toyota Canada, and after 1/2 dozen emails back and forth, with them not answering my questions ... just going in circle. Finally, I told them to answer my questions and stop giving me the general go-around answer. It's gone to a "Review Committee" and someone will get back to me.

Let's hope Toyota Canada/US rectify this weak, embarassing horn.

i guess its all a matter of opinion, but i think this is an odd thing to be embarrased about

Actually, I agree with your post. The horn is loud, it just sounds like it belongs in a smaller vehicle. I guess we don't need to be that embarrassed about it.

I used it the other day when someone cut in front of me and they definitely heard me!

I was driving and used the horn...my car was full with my coworkers and they said my horn was "cute"...haha it was a bit embarassing...I'm considering replacing it.

I used it for the second time this morning on a green light sleeper. She definitely heard me, but it still sounds embarrassing. I wonder who is in charge of horns at Toyota?

bought a Stebel "Big Daddy" last week. I'll install it as soon as it stops snowing here, wont get anyone calling it cute after that :)
