Horrible gas mileage

My T4R is getting about 11MPG. I have only had it for about one month.

I changed the air filter, spark plugs, running synthetic in all oils, new tires.

I know MPGs drop in the winter but it shouldn't drop that bad. Any help would be great. Thanks

I got my 99 around this time last year and had the same problem. Here's my suggestion

air filter, fuel filter and fuel treatment(Sea Foam), and tire air pressure. Other than just do some searching you can find more detailed answers.

thats about what i get with new fuel filter, injector cleaner, full tune up, k and n air filter plus airaid intake. also has 285 tires

Throttle Body Spacer

When I put an Airraid throttle body spacer on my 98 it increased my total miles per tank by 20-25 miles which I thought was pretty good for a 13 to 14 gallon tank.

i have got about 10 mpg if i use 4wd in the past this was the worst i have ever had it , besides that it normally gets about 16 mpg it is the v6 and a stick so that may be part of it.


but check the tire pressure. and your driving habits can effect it

Thanks for the info guys. It sucks the low gas mileage we get. I had a Montero Sport and was getting 19MPG in the city. If gas goes up like it did this summer, I may have to trade cars. I like the T4R too.

I dont understand why you guys are getting such horrible gas milage. I have no A/C or cooling Fan and I'm getting 21mpg city and 26mpg highway, but before i removed those i was getting 17-18

I need to change spark plugs, spark plug wires, I need a full synthetic oil change (just hit the 3k mark), new fuel filter, and seafoam treatment. Might also need O2 sensors, its running too rich.

I have a K&N drop in that I will replace with an FIPK intake, rather not make my old airbox worthless by cutting a hole in it. Already have LCE headers in, saving for hi-flow cat and catback system too.

So right now, I am getting 14.7 mpg (I have a thing on my iPhone called Tankbuch, very good) and I hope that will be back to 20+ soon.

A funny thing -- I get better mileage wth ECT power on. 7-10 mpg w/o ECT, 14-15 w/ ECT. Ha, I like ECT better anyway. The thing is so slow without it... it just might be amazingly better once this shit's done with. Only reason that w/o ECT I get so little is probably because im flooring it half the time trying to get the ****ing thing to move with traffic.
