Horrible gas mileage

I have an 87runner with the 22re. Has 31s on it. New spark plugs, wires new head and valves, and stock gears. I'm only getting 12mpg no mater how I drive it. Looking for ideas to help I'm prove it. Please start with the cheapest solutions first.

correct tire pressure
carry light load
drive EASY
throttle body cleaner
mass air flow sensor cleaner (if it's dirty .. check first)
SEA FOAM it (do it the right way)
only use ethanol-free gas (go to puregas.org to find your nearest station)

FULL TUNE-UP:
spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, PCV valve

Tire pressure is correct, its not under a load and its driven like and old women is behind the wheel. I'm a little concerned with seafoam since it has 198xxx miles on it. Ordered all Ordered the parts to do the tune up. What would be the proper way for seafoam?

Are you using your odometer to figure the mileage, or a gps? The odometer is under reading with your oversize tires and stock gears.

I'm getting about 16 mpg with my 22RE with 199,000 miles. I did find my front tires (BFG AT's) had about 19 lbs of pressure in 32x11.50x15 so I filled up to 40 lbs. I can't get my rear stem valve caps off though but the rears look like they are properly inflated. I had to work like hell to get the front ones off without damaging the stems.

I got seafoam and am a little nervous about putting it in.

Don't sweat it at all, your engine will love you for it. I too was a skeptic, now I want to pour it in everything!

DON'T GO 40 PSI! ..... go 30 psi.

My 3VZ-E mpg went from 13/city to 16/city .. but only by using ethanol-free gas.

Expensive stuff so ... no savings.
