Horrible Noise!! Help!

Hey Everybody. I've had my 4runner for about 2 years. It is a 1998 Limited. For the past year is has started making an annoying squeakign noise. The noise is loud enough so you hear it when you're inside of the car, and when you're outside of the car it sounds horrible. Here's the tricky part: Whenever you touch the has pedal, or try to brake the squeaking noise will stop. The noise is only there when you are "coasting" and do not have a lot of pressure on the gas or brakes. Does anyone know what could be doing this? I've crawled under the car numerous times, and i cannot figure it out. Help!

A little more diagnostic information....have you changed the belts already? It could be a belt sticking, although typically it would keep making the noise when under load.

Also, have you taken off the belts to check the pulleys?

Just trying to narrow down the possibilities.

Yea everything is perfect. However i juxt fixed the problem. I needed to grease the drive shaft

If the U-joints on the driveshaft were 'dry' enough to make that kind of noise, then they will probably have to be replaced before long. Greasing them now will delay their failure somehwhat, but will not fix the damage that has probably been done.
