horrible poping noise please help

I noticed this a few days ago and I have seen a few people had the same issue but I am not sure if mine is the same.. Every time I reverse out of a parking spot and have the wheel turned and apply the brake I hear and feel this horrible poping sound. This also happens when I am going downhill and applying the brake and hit a bump. Does anybody know what the problem might be?? I looked under the car both driver and passenger side and I'm pretty sure nothing is in two peices. This is a HORRIBLE sound and I need to get it fixed asap so I would really appreciate some feedback. Thanks!
