My wife drove my 2006 V-8 yesterday and said she could tell mine had more power than her 2004 V-8 while getting on the interstate. Not sure I can tell yet but haven't really pushed it with 400 miles on it. We live at 8,000 ft. so we're never playing with a full house here (heh, heh); 3-4% hp loss per 1,000 ft. above sea level gives about a 30% hp loss here. Wish they had a factory blower option. Nontheless both the 04 and 06 V-8 are quite lively here; my previous 2002 Explorer V-8 was ok but got rid of it due to reliability issues.

I used a Gibson exhaust (cat back) and a K&N on the Ford and other than the sound , not sure it helped. Don't think I'll try any modifications on the 06 4R as they seem to be more trouble than they are worth without noticeable hp gains.

Would appreciate any other views on this given our altitude situation. Anything would have to be warranty compatible.

A blower for the v8 06' 4 runners would be insane.

I wouldn't think twice about -not- doing this mod if the price was right :-x

I think I'll be going down the centrifugal blower route as soon as my warranty expires. Something to the tune of 6 psi.:awais:

Oh, and Koz, it might be a while on that order of beef. I'm beginning to get really busy and I'll be moving out of the area where that dyno was in a couple of weeks. Hopefully sometime in July I'll get some numbers on the intake.

This reminds me, you still haven't raced your friend in the Hemi Heep, and I can't seem to find any around here that want to play I'm curious to know how my setup stacks up against the Hemi...

Funny you mention the Hemi Heep, he was over Sunday and I was going to hit him up for a run. He pull up in his way overpriced A4 convertible. I asked him why I never see him in his Heep and he says 11MPG. I will jump on him the next time the Heep shows up.

I Walked away from a Dodge 1500 4x4 w/ the Hemi!!!

From a light to 70 MPH I slowly walked away from a 1500 with the 5.7L Hemi a couple days ago. I had about half a car length on him once I lifted. My rear bumper was half a car length in front of his front bumper.

It was a 4x4 Quad Cab SB with the 20" wheels. which has a curb weight of Approx... 5500 lbs w/ one person. 345hp - 375ftlbs trq. approximately - 15.94lbs/HP and 14.67 lbs/ftlb trq. It may even weigh more, I am just going by online info.

My 4Runner - SR5 2WD 4.0L Approximate curb weight of 4200lbs w/ me in it. Just for Sh!ts and grins let say I only gained 5HP & 8ftlbs trq from my mods listed below. For totals of 250HP and 290ftlbs trq or 16.8lbs/HP and 14.48lbs/ftlb trq.

I win on paper with one number but lose with the other. I think I won the important one Thou - Torque.

Overpriced is right. A buddy of mine just bought a 2006 S4 with the 4.2L V8 - $60,000. Sweet car, but not as fast as you would expect and he's getting about 12 mpg...

The Hemi Ram's are slower (except for the single cab 2WD shortboxes) That's a good kill for the 4Runner V6. I'm interested in the Hemi Jeep GC, the closest Hemi carrying competitor to the 4Runner (Or maybe a Commander too)
