Hot air near pedals

When I drive my 95 v6 auto 4runner for more than 15 minutes I notice a lot of hot air near and around the floorboard/pedals. Is this normal? It seems as though a lot of the heat from the engine is filtering into the cab. Thanks.

No that doesn't sound normal to me. The engine compartment on my '95 gets pretty darn hot but I've not noticed that heat entering the passenger compartment.

Heater vent malfunctioning maybe? Heat insulation under carpet missing? Perhaps a heat shield fell off? Hole in firewall or floor?

I noticed that the other day, but it was because the kids turned on the rear heater when they were in the car. Don't know when that became an option, but maybe there's an empty socket malfunction because of that.
