HOT right front brakes and wheel?

Hey guys, after driving home from the grocery store and getting out of my truck I noticed right away a burning brakes stench and noise that was unusual....kinda like a hot motor ticking while it cools but it was very consistent and continual from the right front. I went into the wheel well and felt ALOT of heat coming from the brake/wheel area. I touched the wheel with my hand it was VERY hot to the touch, too hot to hold onto...
What is up with this? Maybe like a frozen caliper or something? On the way to the store i noticed a pull to the right but thought it was alignment....maybe was brakes.....

That would be my 1st guess. It may just just be the pins and an easy fix although unlikely

Is it at all possible for this to 'work itself out'? im asking because I just rinsed the brakes with the hose/high pressure and went for a drive >2miles... and it seems to no longer be happening. does this happen and go away?

While it's in the early phases of screwing up it may catch and release a few times. I pull the tires and grease the caliper pins and then see what happens. If the piston was stuck it's unlikely it would free itself. If it hung up on the pin it could stick and then release.

yeah i figured at the least it could be the beginning signs of a potential failure.... great! hehe, just have to keep my eye on it. thanks again CJ3! You SHOULD be a mod!

When the tech had it on the lift, you should be able to easily rotate each tire/wheel...well the front right was unmoveable and the driver side front was BARELY moveable...so its like the brakes are always on...sh1tty.
$600in parts should be here thurs... :happy bda

Unfortunately no, Im at 62,5xx miles :\
They had an 04 in earlier today having the same exact work done and said they've been noticing its an increasing 'situation' with older 4runners... which one can read in these forums.

since its in park and its fulltime 4wd, wouldnt it not move anyways? i would think that all 4 wheels are locked once you shift into park... unless they had put it into neutral.

T?@\7 , I notice you live right on the Florida coast. That salt air and high humidity can be a real problem.
Have you done any driving on the beach or through deep water??

I dont know for sure which gear they had it in, I assume N.....

Mrtom- my truck has seen the beach only one time, when i first got it almost 4 years ago. I HAVE gone through her fair share of water crossings deep enough to submerge all wheels/tires (+Brakes) in those 4 years tho.... never near the coast (atleast15mi inland, but hell ALL of FL was once beach anyway) so I bet that had a part, albeit minimal, in the calipers starting to seize. Its strange that it seems to be a 4runner thing tho.....

supposed to take her in tommorow as early as i can. I hate driving it like this i feel like im killing the trans, but I dont think any real harm is being done. we'll see... they are also going to resurface the rotors and bleed the brakes as I guess the really high temps can caus bubbling and then moisture develpoping...
