How about that Michael Phelps???

I saw this in the Atlanta paper today, I thought it was pretty funny. Last night I saw the USA beat the world record in swimming relay by about 5 seconds. I think this cartoon may be close to the truth.;):

He is pretty awesome, hard work is paying off for him. Best of luck to him and everyone else at the Olympics.

The relay race when they beat the trash talking French team was frick'n awesome. The look on the French team's face in shock was priceless. They got their arses handed to them by the US team. That's what you get when you talk too much! That shut up the French swim team pretty good didn't it?

:iagree: I think this guy must have gills and other stuff. But hey he's been training since he was 11. Go USA!

Ain't nothing better than those who talk the smack and get their behind handed to them on a silver platter. That men's 4x100m Freestyle relay is the highlight of the 2008 Summer Games. Just like Supreme Soul and their arrogance on America's Best Dance Crew.

At any rate, I do hope Phelps gets gold in his remaining three competitions. He's already set new world records for the heats he swam, as well as being the only US (not sure about the world) Olympian with more than nine career golds. Go Michael!!!

In an interview, part of his motivation was fellow Olympian and competitor Thorpe said after the Athens Games, Phelps would be lucky if he can get seven golds in Beijing. Phelps said he clipped that article/quote out and it's been in the back of his locker as he trained for the games. That's inspiring for any youngster and children out there, set your mind to it, practice/train and you'll succeed.

Just goes to show how much this guy trains and exercises. 12k calories, wow!
There was a report that each workout he does burns 4,000 calories. That's a lot more than most people need to have in a day.

Wow!! Eight gold medals! He has half of all the gold medals the US has up to this point.

And seven world records. I'm glad he accomplished his goal and showed the naysayers.

Now, I see this in the paper today:

"What is the value of eight golds in Beijing before a prime-time audience in the U.S.?

Phelps got arrested for drunk driving years ago, I wonder if any of his sponsors left after Athens. But it seems he did lots of work against drunk driving and is genuinely sorry. He seems to be a good guy, did you guys know he signed up for extra 'doping' tests (ones not required by the olympics), so he probably isn't cheating.

I knew he had a drunk driving against him, the host from Extreme Home Makeover had one too and it doesn't seem to hurt him. I think it is how you handle yourself after the drunk driving that is important to the public.

Michael Phelps seems to be very positive and easy going. I am sure he will be an asset to swimming and our country. He mentioned he may not swim for awhile and his Mom gave him that "Mom" look. Heck, I truly think he will get that 100 million the paper says.
