I didn't know where I should post this so I apologize if it's in the wrong place. This is a 2004 T4R Sr5. I realize the part that covers the gas tank is bad but I was more concerned with the frame.
How Bad is this Rust?

So is this really bad and should I be concerned?

It doesn't look "bad" yet, but it might qualify as concerning. Hit it with a hammer, scrape it with a big screwdriver, if you can knock pieces off or hear a thud instead of a ringing, it's bad. Don't just check where you can see it easy, either, the worst spots will be anywhere dirt collects and soaks up water.

hose out the inside with water, then blow it out with air, then buy 4 cans of this (tape all the holes in the frame except where you stick the nozzle) and spray it inside your frame: Amazon.com: Eastwood Internal Frame Coating Rust Prevention w/Spray Nozzle: Automotive
then once that dries, apply this to the exterior: Rust Preventive Coating
then this for topcoat: TOP COAT
then enjoy your ride for the next 25 years or as long as you want since the frame is protected...
then annually if you get frisky you can add some of this overtop the por-15 for additional protection but it's really not necessary Amazon.com - Fluid Film Gallon - Automotive Rust Treatment Chemicals
all this would cost you about 300-400 dollars BUT you would have zero worries about your frame.

I really don't have the tools to hose it down thoroughly and then blow dry it with air. Could I take it to my mechanic or is going to krown rustproofing an option? If not, I could take it to car wash and pressure wash the undercarriage then use the Eastwood coating when it dries.
Also, the black stuff you see in the second pic does flake off when I scape it. Is this what you are referring to?
I just purchased this truck and I love everything about it so I want to fix this issue ASAP. It's been giving me sleepless nights because I don't want to feel like I've been had. Thank you for the suggestions.
