I’ve seen worse. Take a flathead screwdriver and poke at the worst looking spots, also a hammer and lightly check the rest of the frame (if it looks like the picture)

Looks like surface rust to me though.

I'll give that a shot, I'll have the tech to put the vehicle on the lift and take a closer look.

need better pics of the frame rails and crossmembers to determine state of the frame. Rear axle looks surface rusty but that's to be expected if it's ever seen a winter or beach.

I would say it's not that bad. you can use a wire brush to knock them off and get an underbody painting done. There are a lot of videos out there in youtube to do this. I am planning to do the same on mine soon.

Good luck with your buy. Do share the pics once you have it.

Does not look too bad from what I can see. Take a good look at the front end, especially the radiator core support....notorious for rust on the support. That runner is a "spring chicken" with 68k on the clock. Curious, what can you buy it for?

For a good price $11k plus Tax & License & Safety, meaning the truck needs Tire(s) and Front Pads. That would need to be replace so I could drive it off the lot. EMP Price.

I don't think thats a bad deal, especially considering the miles. Make sure she'll go into 4hi and lo. 4th gen is an awesome platform!

This would be my first Off Road vehicle, I'll have a Technician check that out before I make up my mind.

Got pics of yours?

I don't have any pics handy. I'm curious to see what the gang says about yours though. That stuff would scare me a bit but a lot of that is admittedly based on stubborn principle. As in, you live in Cali, which isn't exactly a rust belt state, so why should you be buying a rusted rig when you could hold out for something with a more pristine and desert kept body? Do you guys get rust on cars from the ocean salt in the air or something, or was this an East Coast car that migrated? I also understand the pull of the "truck I want" factor, since I compromised on my own principle and got a rig that was rustier than I would have liked.

It looks to have spent a couple of seasons in snow country or some time on the beach....but imo, it dosen't look bad at all. I would clean up the surface rust and treat the areas with an inhibitor. My '05 after 12 seasons in the northeast is alot worse. Low miles are a big plus....Let me know if yer going to pass!

I agree, it’s not to bad. When cleaned up it should look a lot better. I’ve seen way worse then that. The rest of the undercarriage looks pretty good.
