how 'bout that Acura RDX

what do you guys think of the new Acura RDX?

2.3l 4cyc turbo engine. isn't that just the accord engine with turbo? it's like they didn't know what to do with an rsx so they put bigger tires on it. my girlfriend's little sister might like it. msrp at 35k too.

I don't understand what market they're going for.
Rumor has it that Lexus is supposed to come out with a small SUV as well based on the RAV4.
If I'm looking for a luxury car with premium features, I'm not looking for something that small. People with extra disposable income to buy the luxury name plate can't be that worried about gas mileage, can they??

It competes with the Mazda CX-7, Highlander, BMW X3, and possibly the RX350.

I was checking it out yesterday. 4 cylinder turbo engine, something like 240 HP, 260 TQ. The Rav4 has 270 HP V6 and weighs 400 lbs less. I'd expect the 0-60 times for the RDX to be around 7.5-7.8 seconds, or a little slower than a stock vvt-i V8 4Runner. Its 35k because its an Acura, and they're all overpiced. But it'll be loaded...

It is also aimed at the RX350. They are close in size. The RX 350 is overpriced by $10k.

RX350 w/ nav, $45,600

Acura has the best priced entry-level luxury vehicles. The only option is usually Navigation.

I think it might be a little smaller than the Lexus RX as it is based on the upcoming Honda Civic platform. You guys sure have it good with pricing as the RDX will be $40k plus in Canada. From what I was told by the Acura dealer, the RDX primary target is the BMW X3.

FYI: In this month's issue of R&T, they clocked the RDX doing 0-60mph @ 6.3sec.; 1/4mi in 14.8sec @92.6mph. And I thought the 6.9sec 0-60 time for the RAV4 was fast. One thing for sure is that it is pricey, but then again, the X3 is more expensive and slower.

I think that time for the RDX is a little optimistic. The RAV4 has 30 more HP and weighs 300 lbs less than the RDX, so there is no way that it is any slower. I'd expect real world numbers to be in the high 6 second 0-60 range and quarter mile times in the high 14's to 15 flat. Still quick enough to dust a stock V8 Runner though
