How can I tell the age of my Panasonic battery on my Pre Owned 07 4Runner

How can I tell the age of my Panasonic battery on my Pre Owned 07 4Runner. I doubt it was changed when I purchased the 07, V6, 2WD, 43,000 mi Certified 2 years ago this month (Dec 2010). The past owner’s records nor the Dealer invoice indicated the Battery had been replaced.

Info on the battery is not showing a manufactured date or purchased date that I recognize. Attachments are showing the following:

1. It shows to be a Panasonic #105D31L-MF on the top and side.

2. It shows VD05ERB branded in the top side by the negative post.

I'm gonna step out on a limb here and say it's most likely the age of the car. Panasonics are put in from the factory. Most dealerships don't replace it with a panasonic if they feel it needs replaced. My dealership replaced mine with an everstart or something like that.

D31L is the group size of the battery. Its just a part number lol

unfortunately batteries don't do this.

If it's an aftermarket battery the manufacturer typically puts a sticker or engraving on the side marking the date of creation/distribution. Most batteries that come with a car come unmarked. Most newer batteries these days are lasting from 5-7 years. You'd be right at the 5 year mark so 2 years ago when you purchased there wasn't a need to replace.

I know this topic has dedicated threads, but it is amazing how good the Panasonic battery is. My 05 with 131K on it now is STILL running the OEM battery. I am challenging it to keep on bucking until it won't start my truck. That could be a cold day though.... planning accordingly.

I wish I knew where I could buy another one.

I have a 2003 with the same battery. I have been looking for a replacement and cannot find it. Toyota says it is only avail in Malaysia and Japan. Considering the unavalibility of this particular battery, it is original to your truck from 2007.

The toyota true start batteries have 84 month pro-rated warranties. They dont sell the panasonic ones anymore but they're usually $89.99 or at least thats what i sold them for. With free install if you bring in the core. The panasonic battery is probably from 04-05 and definitely is outlived. Go pick up a new 24f/27f

good battery IMO. i've never had issues with them and never had a comeback for one i sold. I stay away and refused to sell true2's as they're refurb'd.

WOW! This volume of instant info is a surprise. I feel If I had known it was the original I would have asked for it to be replaced on the Certified Sale as I did plugs and they did other needed or scheduled maintenance (oil/filter, new tires, new front brake pads/rotor surfacing and etc.).

It probably would have been a challenge as the 6 plugs and labor @ about 120.00. With 43,000 mi and no records the plugs had been changed at the 35,000 I was told they did not need changing and would go well over 60,000 + and with today’s technology I believe that. But! I wanted them changed since the warranty schedule showed @ 35,000 or any related liabilities would not be covered. I never thought once to check the Battery’s history. We can not think of all the needs on Pre Owned. The purpose of the 160 Check Points on Certified Pre Owned. LOL!

There has not been one sign of a Battery issue except possibly the Mfg and 07 put in service dates.
