Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knew what it would take to add a toyota nav system to a 2003 4runner SR5. What parts would i need. Just the head unit? I read a post on here before about using a camry nav. but i didn't fully understand it. Any info. would be apprecatied.

thank you

I would say the easiest thing to do is just take it to a GOOD stereo shop and have them do it. Trust me, the 4runner is a complicated install!

I just recently had a Pioneer radio installed with integrated satellite radio, and it took them about 5 hours.

From what I have heard, trying to install a factory NAV unit is going to set you back quite a chunk of change. I have a friend with an "03 V8, and I believe it cost him $1,800 to add a pioneer unit, which he is sorry he bought. He now uses a Garmin Street Pilot 330 which he is much happier with, and it only set him back $400. I have the Street Pilot 530, under $400., and it suits my needs just fine. Plus I have the option of moving it to any vehicle I choose by umplugging it. The Garmin units work well, have much better street maps, are easily upgradable online, and compact. Might be worth a look.
