How Do I aquire a 2003 Hood Scoop hood?

i went to my dealer, and they gave me a quote of 600 canadian, for the sport hood with paint - installed. they agreed to keep my old one, in exchange for a few hundred off the price. i figure works out well, as they use the hood for an insurance job, and bill them full price, while i still save a bit...im doing it SOON! i did it with my 2000 4runner a couple years ago.

I'm just curious, if you didn't get the Sport for like $900 more over a SR5 why would you go and spend more than half of that if not more on just the scoop?
You're still missing body colered stuff, xreas, leather wrapped steering and shifter, larger brakes, larger tires and wheels, sport rims, sport fabric seats, etc.
I don't know just doesn't make good sense to me.

Isn't the biggest difference between a good and cheap paint job the preparation time? For a new body part (i.e., one that is off the truck), there should be little to no masking/prep. I'd bet you can get a top notch job on a new hood for a couple hundred bucks (US) tops. Installation and alignment will probably run you another $100.
Regardless, there's probably going to be paint missing on the bolts that hold on the hood. In terms of resale value, that can be a bad thing. Just make sure you keep before/after pictures to prove to any future buyer that your 4r wasn't wrecked.

600 is still a decent price for me...the parts cost that alone, but to factor in 4-500 for a good paint job....even if i get a cheaper job for 300 done (which there is no way i would), that still brings the total to 900, and id rather save 300 than have a hood lyin around in my garage...
