how do I buff out bush scratches?

so.. new member...

Just bought a 2011 Sr5 and took her for a really tough tide today. Didnt mean too.. But ended up on a narly trail and scratched the f out of her with mesquite trees.....

How can I buff the scratches out?

Don't worry about it. Those are the marks that real off roaders have, so they are a badge of membership in an elite group.
 
Umm. I am not worried about it. My Wife is!!!! I took her car and tested her a little off road. Bent the crap out of the diff cover and scratched her up REALLY bad......
 
It depends on how deep the scratces are. Some of them may never come out. This is why I keep my old Jeep Wrangler around for the nastier trails. You can really tear up a new vehicle out there. I have been lucky on my 4runner and can buff out most of the tree marks. On the 4runner I carry tree trimmers with me to cut down some of the bigger branches. On the Jeep I just bash through.
 
Now that you say that it is your wife's Runner, I hope you know that she will remember your error forever. I have been married for 56 years, and my dear wife remembers everything I ever did and things I have said. The beatings will never stop. No matter if you get it fixed.
 
By the sounds of it, you have some strong scratches. Save yourself from further pain and give it to the pros.
 
If the scratches are in the clear coat (kind of like swirl marks), there is a good chance you can buff them out with an automotive paint cleaner, which has a very mild abrasive. When you put another coat of wax over that (preferably a sealer first, then a buttercoat carnuba) the visibility of scratches, as well as swirl marks will be minimal, since the vehicle is still relatively new.

If they are deep scratches where the paint is removed, then there really is no way to reduce them to the point of there being no scratches without going to a pro.

Dito. Love my new 4Runner and cannot envision taking it to places I take my Jeep. The 4runner is too expensive to beat up on trails better suited for jeeps.

While you are waiting for the car to get detailed, you might want to stop off at your wife's favorite spa and get her a gift certificate for a massage.

From that statement ....I take it you have never been married ?lol He stated it was her new 4Runner!

They will polish out if they are only in the clearcoat but it takes alot of patience and finesse. I used Meguiars Scratch-X before with good results.
Now I have so many they just add character and I don't have a free week to polish them all out.It's a one of a kind pinstriped custom paint job now!
