How do i disable my autolock feature?

It's in the early chapters of the manual.
I don't remember the exact procedure, but it goes something like:
1. Hold down lock side of the master lock/unlock switch on the driver's door while turning the key to "On".
2. Continue to hold it for 5 seconds. The door locks should cycle indicating that it's been disabled.
Holding the unlock side controls the auto unlocking feature.
Repeat the above steps to enable or disable the feature.
If the shifter is in Park, it enables or disables locking by shifting out of park. If the shifter is Neutral, it enables or disables locking by speed (exceeding 12mph).

I have played with the various locking programs, turning them on and off, but it seems that no matter what I do, the doors lock automatically right after I turn on the vehicle. I would like for them to lock/unlock by speed, but even when I think I am turning this option on (following the procedure in the manual) the doors still lock right after I turn it on (and this doesn't even seem to be one of the locking programs).
Am I doing something wrong or missing something?

Sounds like you might have an aftermarket alarm. I had a Clifford in my old car and it would lock the doors within a couple seconds of turning the key to 'On'.
The 4Runner only has two lock settings, when you shift out of park or when the speed gets above 12mph. For unlocking, it's when you shift back into park or when the key is turned to 'Acc'.
