How do I know which security system I have?

Dang this is frustrating!

OK, I've been doing a lot of research on keyless entry and the security system.

Here is what I KNOW:

- I have a red LED in the top of the center console and it glows when I lock the doors (using the electric switch...I don't have key fobs yet).

- The front two windows have the Toyota sticker that says "This vehicle equipped with a Toyota Security System" (or something like that).

Other than that, I don't know what all is included. Is this the RS3000? RS3200? Something else?

I looked under my driver seat, and didn't see anything, but I didn't pull up the carpet. Is there anywhere else the module would be located?

I'll be getting my fobs from the dealer tonight, and trying to program them, but I wanted to know what the heck security system I have!

Thanks

Sounds like you have the original security system (which I forget the name, but was standard with Limited models). I have the same system. I am almost positive it's not the VIP system. I still have the 2 original fobs that came with the car but they are really worn out which bothers me since I am maddd OCD. How much did you pay for the key fobs?

Hey KellyJ, Yeah...no black box under the seat means no VIP system. But, supposedly a factory-installed alarm/keyless system was standard on the '99 Limited. However, I don't know where "it" is, or how to know if it's functioning.

92 SR5 security system.

If this is the wrong place to ask, sorry, just joined.

I have a '92 SR5, with the factory security in it, no key FOB. The Vallet mode only works when I disconnect the alarm box and then reconnect it, but will only work for 15mins before it defaults, and your back to rushing to put the key in the ignition and turning it to ON. Since Im what is called a Noob when it comes to vehicles, I was hoping to get some input or at least pointed in the right direction before I start tooling on it with out really knowing what Im doing. I would like to be able to set Vallet mode and not have to worry about the alarm every time I open any of the doors. Attached is a picture of the alarm box from my Runner. Thanks in advance.
