How do i remove Side Window Deflectors?

I have a new-to-me '08 but it came with AVS Side Window Deflectors. These are much like the ones that Weathertech sells, where there is adehsive on the outer-edge, but still is secured inside the weatherstripping on the door...NOT "stuck on directly to the door with double-sided tape".

The driver's side deflector's adhesive has let go on the outer-edge, and is not allowing the window to roll up all the way without getting in the way. Long story short, i need to replace them.

Whats the best way to get the old ones off? Will I have to replace the weatherstripping in the window frame? Can I use a heat gun or something to get the old adhesive to let go?

Any help would be great.

Not sure how high your temps are getting out there but it's 80 degrees here today. A perfect day for this kind of work.

Park the vehicle in the sun with windows rolled up completely. Let sit several hours in the hot sun.

When ready to begin work then lower the windows enough so they are out of your way and it may help to have a 2nd person to apply pressure along the vent visors at the window weatherstripping, see if one side or the other has some give and just continue to pull it down and away in one direction or the other. Once out of the weatherstripping track you probably should clean the sealing area with a qtip and some soapy water or rubbing alcohol. Ideally the 3M tape will have stuck to the visors and come off with it. If not you may have to reach up inside the sealing surface with a pair of tweezers to grab it and pull it out.
