How do you feel about Michael Vick going to the Philadelphia Eagles?

Michael Vick, the former Atlanta footboall player signed a two year contract with the Phildelphia Eagles. He was involved with illegal dogfighting and now has served his time.

I am torn about how I feel, he just let the Falcons down, yet he says he has truned and is sorry about what he did. I wonder how good he will be sitting on the sidelines for so long.

Any thoughts?

I'm glad he is playing again. Hopefully he will be able to come back and do some good things. I don't think he will be as good as he was, but it will be interesting to see.

I don't see why people have a problem with him coming back in the league. All he did was fund a dog fighting ring. There are many things he could have done that are worse.

im pretty mixed on this. what he did to the dogs was pretty messed up. im a dog owner and love dogs so to hear what he did pi$$es me off...hes a criminal (same with his brother) and im tired of all these criminals in pro sports getting a break but he did do his time and hopefully is a better man from it.
i think the eagles paid him waaaay too much, it was i heard 1.6 in his first year? eagles will use his talent though in some sort of crazy offense. he wont get much play at QB esp after they re-did mcnabbs contract and mcnabb is a better overall player

We have 2 Pits and rescued many that were taken from people like him. My mother and sister still have Pits that we rehabilitated, one over 10 years ago. It would be fitting if, on his first play back, fans threw bags of dog crap all over the field!

If he's truly turned a new page and "over compensates" with charity and donations to animal rescues etc then I wish him all the success but I don't have to like him. I prefer he succeed. Professional sports should not allow criminals to play. I feel they have a responsibility to uphold higher standards. I don't think that football would lose anything by telling Vick to **** off and don't come back.

I dislike Michael Vick, because he's arrogant, so I don't really care about him. Plus...I dislike how ball players are making so much money anyways.

Donte Stallworth killed a pedestrian while drunk and he did his time,paid fine and lawyers and received a one year suspension from the NFL and IMO that's worse than abusing dogs since a human life was taken.

There's plenty of players that have done worse but Vick's case made big news and we know most of america are animal lovers which helped make this a big deal but players drunk driving,beating their spouses,dealing drugs,doing drugs,etc. are still in the NFL so IMO Vick deserves a chance since he did serve his time and he lost a ton of money so why continue to punish the guy since standards are set in the NFL already but I admit those standards need to be revised by the NFL.

I am a dog lover. I love my dog to "death" (in a good way). I spent more money on my dog's food than myself. He always get top-of-line food and vet care.

For that beeing said, I don't think Vick deserve go to jail for it. People always trying to be political correct and go with popular decision. I agreed with Ron. There are players have done worse than Vick. He might deserve to be suspense by the NFL, because he employed by NFL but go to jail?

A dog would give its life to save its family.

One of my dogs needed stitching up after a guy broke into our house while my wife and infant daughter were there. The dog must have inflicted alot of damage on the guy because the cops were able to find where his vehicle had been parked by following the blood trail thru the jungle in Panama.

He did go to jail because he broke the law but you can't compare what americans regard as pets to a few animals that are considered food sources and it's not like we abuse the food sources before they are slaughtered.

For me the difference is free choice. To some extent my subjective opinion of a "chicken's" intellect mixes into the equation. That's why I consider the "chicken" thing a tiny bit less offensive.


The people chose the ring. We, clearly, have the superior intellect and we have a much more developed "free will" than animals.



Being on the top of the 'food chain', intellectually, we've been given/created/morphed many things into tools. Dogs (and even chickens to a degree) are on the list and they help allow us to thrive. Service dogs serve "us" in so many capacities. "Chickens" feed us. Pets comfort and help protect us. The least we highly evolved, oh-so-smart, people can do is to treat them (especially the dogs, horses etc) with the respect decency they crave and deserve. Dogs live to serve.



IMHO the Native Americans had it right, animals are a gift and a necessary component to survival and therefore they deserve being treated with dignity/respect.



The other thing I would add is that anything bred by us, for us, is here because of and for us. As the ones being gifted or evolved, however you like, with the superior intellect it's our moral obligation to be good stewards... In my perfect world I’d still eat steak but the killing process would be as humane/painless/non-traumatic as possible. I am not a tree hugging, PETA person but I do have a high level of empathy for the gift.


Having some exposure to service dogs and lots of exposure to my pet dogs has skewed my vision on this, I know. I don't think I'm that far off of the mark and what Vick did is crappy, very crappy. As I said though, I want him to succeed financially but not thrive unless he 'lives' for shelters, service dogs etc. I don't want any kid looking up to him...

its funny how we treat our dogs better. mine is the same he gets an all natural meal and he gets all natural snacks. i keep a few boxes around for variety. i dont feed him table scraps though due to his food allergies.
