How does this protective guard go on?

I took the plastic guard that "covers" the fuel filter off a long time ago. I decided to put it back on but cannot remember if it goes inside or outside of the steel cross member. If iti s outside all three bolts are on one side so it just doesn't look like it has support on theside towards the driveshaft. Can anyone look under their thrird genration and let me know the orientation of the guard.

Inside, Outside, it's all relative to where you're laying. To avoid confusion I'll try this. The guard bolts to the frame rail, the rear most bolt is about 2" forward of the rearmost crossmember, the forward most bolt is just aft of the swaybar mount. It sits completely below all frame and crossmembers. The cutout stamped 'jack point' or something like that will be at the transmission support member with open air to the rear of the opening. The inboard section does not attach to anything.

Thanks - that's how I have it. Iwasn't sure about the inboard not attaching to anything and being below the cross member.
