How Does Your Rear Backrest Latch Work?

HI folks,
I'm looking for replacement rear seat backrest latch (that keeps it upright) for my first-gen. Original has plastic body so it broke. I wonder if yours has a metal body and works similar to the fist-gens so I can go to junkyard and get one.
Junkyard is a long drive 45 minutes from me so your info would be appreciated.

Ours are inside the seat, so without opening it up, I can't tell you exactly how it is. Same basic idea though, but our knob gets pulled straight up to release it.

Does it engage a "strike" like below with 6-mm (1/4 inch) diameter rod?

Over all thickness around 1 inch?

I measure the diameter at 0.275”. The total width is about 1.2”

Thanks again, JZiggy. I happened to go to a junkyard this week so I picked a pair up. Works like you guys describe it.
