How does your rig behave when DAC and HSA are operating?

Good morning everyone -

I took my rig off road yesterday (nothing serious, just some logging roads) to see how everything worked. I have owned many 4WDs (1992 SR5 V6 Pickup, 1998 Dakota, 2002 F250 Super Duty; I loved the 1992 but decided I needed a new truck, the 1998 was a piece of junk, and I still have and love the 2002), and the 4Runner felt the tightest of any of the rigs. It handled itself nicely when I went up a slippery and rocky grade, and the visibility out of the rig is pretty darn good also. I'd feel very comfortable taking it off road any time (big surprise)!

Here's my questions:

1) When the Downhill Assist Control is operating, do your brakes pulse rapidly, or do they "gradually" and "smoothly" apply and release themselves. My brakes pulse a lot, and there were a few times that I though the vehicle was going to shake itself apart. I was on a smooth hill when this was taking place. My main question is if the operation is supposed to be so "rough".

2) How does your Hill Start Assist System behave (on road)? If my vehicle even starts to roll backwards on a hill (it has to be a steep one), the brakes start to pulse (as noted in item 1), and I get a lot of strange clicking noises from under the hood. I "thought" that the HSA System would just gradually apply the brakes until the vehicle started to move forward. Bottom line: Is the system supposed to be so noisy?

Thanks for any input you can provide! Happy motoring!

My DAC makes all sorts of creaks and groans. Sounds like yours is totally normal.

I can't comment on HSA. I haven't used it yet.

I had hsa kick in last week. I did not hear any noises or feel any vibration. My foot was not on the brakes at the time, so i cant say it pulsated
