How far have you gone....

...when your low fuel warning light comes on? I've not had my '98 long and have only gone about 12 miles. I pussed out. I know I don't wanna run it outta gas and I think I only put in 15.5 gallons when I filled. I think it's an 18 g tank, right?

I've gone about 45 miles after my light went on. The gauge was pretty far below the white line!

i was driving back from south dekota with my dad and we decided to cheat the gas tank, to see how far we could go, i went about 45 miles then gettong off the ramp to get gas it stalled, then i started at again and getting in the left hand turn lane it stalles again and i coast into the station, the tank is a 18.5 GAL tank, look how much gas i put back in!!!

Thats an awesome story. :biggrin2: I only dared stretch my 3rd gen to around 260 mi per tank. I hated the fuel light on it cause I assume like most of yours it would flicker on and off.

i want to say we got about 280, and it ran dry

yes ur 97 has a light, just drive it till it turn on, because you can go about another 40 miles with the extra gas

My light just went on tonight, maybe 20 miles ago. Most I have gone is 60 miles after it went on and I put in 18.1

isnt pull every last drop of gasoline bad for the engine? all the dust, debris, and whatnot settle at the bottle of the tank. and it gets pulled in through the lines to the engine.

at least thats what i remember reading somewhere...

thats why we have filters, but yes it will suck that stuff up, you really should always have 1/4 tank full, but who really cares

running it below a 1/4 is also bad for the fuel pump. and our fuel pumps are about 300 before install

There is about a gallon of unuseable gas left in the tank at "empty" since the fuel pump doesn't sit on the very bottom.

Be aware to not overfill your tanks and avoid filling up the filler neck like my mom does and have repeatedly warned her that gas needs to room to expend in hot weather and overfilling causes the pressurized gas to be forced into the charcoal canisiter and that is an expensive fix and it can affect other parts associated with the emissions system.
