How important is this bolt I lost?

Well I was doing some much needed work to the DD and ended up dropping and never finding a what I think is an important bolt. Its the small 10mm bolt that holds the Diagnostics plug in place. Not the 10mm ground bolt but the one that holds the plug to the intake plenum. Is this a bolt that will keep me off the road tell I can find it or get a new one? Or can in limp my way to the pick'a'part a few miles away and grab one? I tried to find a donor bolt off my 91 but I'm not seeing one I can snatch.

I have driven significant mileage with that OBD port banging around. No problem. Fix it when you can.

Sometimes auto parts stores carry "Asian Vehicle" bolts that will be a direct fit to that location. It'll be an M10 (Metric - 10mm) and I believe coarse threaded(Don't quote me). You can eyeball the length.

Otherwise, if it doesn't bother you mentally, you'll be fine for the time being.

What ground bolt? For your battery? If it's a bolt that grounds a wire to chassis, I'm positive it's important. Otherwise a circuit isn't functioning...

Well, I have a 2002 so I assume the later years will follow in suit, but the OBD port under the steering column is OBDII and the diagnostic port in the engine bay is an OBDI. The OBDI is an older port but the nice thing is our vehicle accepts both readers.

Haha, touché.

I try not to suggest zip ties because I've seen a few friends get carried away with them, and actually mechanical parts start getting zip-tied and I worry for their lives.

Like upper radiator support bolts shouldn't be substituted with 2 zipties each side.

But something like an OBD port, front grill, hell, even headlights*; zip-tie it all night.

I believe one of the uses for that connector is to check for abs fault codes. You can jump the Tc and E1 terminals. Then count the number of times the ABS Light flashes to get your code. A Toyota Service Manual is also needed.
