How Is An FM Transmitter Used?

I bought a second-hand 2003 Toyota 4Runner SR5 SUNROOF 4X4, my first car, from my mother's elder brother a month ago for USD 11,500（what about the price?), and get interested in everything car-related. Yesterday I found an FM transmitter (http://www.tinydeal.com/fm-transmit-px3jk1--p-4862.html) as it is called which is said to "broadcast music from your audio devices to your car stereo". I know FM is something about radio, and my car has been equipped with one. Then it seems that such a thing is not needed as for me. Or if the stuff has anything else good, please tell me. By the way, does it suit my car?

Yes I have one and it works OK. First key is to find 4 frequencies in your area that are not used, you can do that over the internet with a search. That way you can switch among the 4 (assuming your unit offers 4 choices) and find one working that day. Also do not buy an expensive one, I got one for $5 from an online retailer and it worked fine. Overall they are OK, a little clunky with all the wires and in rainy days, performance degrades. But if you have an MP3 player and no jack, they are an option.

if you live in or near a big city then don't bother getting one, it won't work well. if thats not the case, get a good quality one, the cheap ones won't give you a clear sound or good connection. i use a griffin itrip autopilot that has been pretty good, but hard to get an open station in the city.

If you have a cassette player, get a cassette adapter. Those have much better sound quality than a FM transmitter, not to mention no battery to deal with it.

Good advice! I never had any luck with FM modulation (Poor sound quality).
