How long before waxing?

The dealer said wait 4 months. I've read that if the paint is factory applied (which it is) you can wax right away. Which is the truth? Is there a reason they said wait 4 months?

BTW, I will be using 'Finish First' initially. I've heard great things about it but will see how it works out. If that doesn't suit me, I'll probably switch over to a full Meguiar solution.

Reading other posts, I think I understand the reason for the wait. Most of the paint on a new car has been baked on at the factory with high heat. That paint can be waxed the day it leaves the showroom floor. However, most new cars have many painted plastic parts, i.e. the bumpers and wheel well trims) and these were painted without the benefit of heat. These parts are the ones that need the time to cure and bond properly.

Dave,

I recently triedZaino's (http://www.zainobros.com) after using Meguiar's for years. Now, I've converted -- goes on easy and looks great.

Another brand often used by 4Runner owners is Griot's (http://www.griotsgarage.com)

By the way, check out this thread about claying the truck: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=739

Well, I used the 'Finish First' and WOW! Slicker than a baby's behind and absolutely the easiest thing I've ever used! I applied it to the entire vehicle in on coat and let it sit about 15+ minutes (as per the instructions). When I removed it, it came off with no effort at all.

Then, of course, 2 days later it rained. They say you can tell the quality of your finish sealant by how well the rain beads up. Well, my hood looked like it had a layer of diamonds on it! I've never seen beads that tiny!
