How long from Japan to here?

The dealer called mid week to say that my 4Runner was built or being built a day or two before. He said they hope to have it here in Maine by the end of the month.
I think that is a little optomistic. It just seems like it would take longer to get it here from Japan.
Is he full of crap about the delivery time?
For some of you that ordered your 4Runners, how long did it take to ship to you after it was built?

Not having any special information to go on, I'd tend to agree with you -- if it was built on the 10th, let's say, then the ship leaves on Friday 11/14. Several days to Oregon (nearest port), then through customs.

Ship across the country, including Thanksgiving holidays.....seems really tight to get it by 29th (the 30th is a Sunday).

Mine was on the way fromk Japan, so from order to delivery was about 2 weeks. In service date was 01/31/2003, order date 01/15/2003.

My 4Runner came from the port in Jacksonville, FL. That means the boat leaves Japan on goes directly to the East coast. I would also guess there is a port in the Norhteast. As you know boats are not too fast, so I would add more time than if it landed in Oregon.
 
I think there is a port in New Jersey or New York. Gonna take a while to get here. I doubt a boat leaves every day from Japan. I'm just hoping it will be here before Christmas.
 
yeah, an expensive stocking stuffer. My stocking will deffinitely be bigger than the kids stockings.
It should be a world of a difference in the snow over my Camry. The same would go for the gas mileage :jester:
 
3-4 months

I special ordered my 4runner (Sport/V8/4WD/Titanium) on October 31. I just got a call from the dealer saying that it would arrive in Mid to late February. Good luck
 
The salesman called tonight to tell me my vehicle would be here in a day or two. Doubt it came here from Japan in just a few weeks. Its probably one that was supposed to go to a different dealer. They told me when I placed the order that if one popped up in the mean time that was originally destined to go to another dealer as part of their normal allotment, then that one would be redirected here. If thats the case then I'll be happy just the same. Either way its a brand new vehicle in the color and model I wanted. YEEE HAAAAA!!!
I'm still gonna tell them I want more for my trade. That will put a little pressure on them to sweeten the deal. Gotta make those sales quotas for the end of the month.
 
That is great news. My special order came in like that, it had a few extras that were put on by another dealer, I bought it anyway.

Just think you may be driving your new 4Runner by Thanksgiving instead of Christmas.:driving:
 
well my new 4Runner showed up last night. The dealer called today to let me know it was here. After work I went over to check it out. They were still in the middle of preping it. I asked the kid doing the prep to leave off the little dealer sticker that they always attach so that you can be a rolling billboard for them (I hate those things). I do have to say that Stratosphere Mica is one sharp color and I am glad I ordered it.
I plan on closing the deal on saturday.
 
Picked up my 4Runner yesterday. Real sweet vehicle. Love how smooth the V8 and 5 speed are. You don't really notice it shifting. Smooth ride over rough surfaces. I can't believe some people bitch about the ride. Its a hell of a lot smoother than my wifes Liberty and I'm use to much stiffer suspensions from my work truck. I like it.
 
Congrats, I am glad you got it, hopefully without too many problems. If you can post a picture of it in the Gallery section. Do you have snow up there yet? Good time to get it, Winter in Maine sounds rough.;):
 
only see a few flakes a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully the snow stays away until after Christmas.
No digital camera so it will take some time to get some pics.
