How long on amsoil?

I'm not running Amsoil, but I'm running ~7500 mile OCI's with synthetic right now.

I may do an UOA at 7500 this time around and see if I can't perhaps push that to 10k miles.

I've been running Amsoil in my Tacoma for a couple of years now. I change it once a year (usually 16k-18k miles) and change the filter every six months.

I will also be using amsoil in the wife's new 4Runner and will probably go with the remote filter set-up after the first year. From there I'll probably only change the oil every 40k or so.

Go to this site www.bobistheoilguy.com and you will learn alot. Check out the used oil analysis, you can check by key word Amsoil. The one thing you will have to be aware of if you go over Toyota's recommended change interval you will give the dealer the ability to void your engine lubrication warranty if you have any problems. I paid for that warranty and I want to keep it so I always change oil/filter based on the warranty requirements for the length of the warranty period.

Oil analysis will tell you what interval to use.

And about that dual by-pass Amsoil filter. Go to bitog.com and do some research. I've always wondered why Amsoil is the only company that sells a combination full flow/by-pass filter with that strange little valve. That valve actually adds resistance to the full flow filter so the by-pass can return it's oil to a lower pressure stream on the return. So between the oil pressure drop from that valve and any extra resistance do to normal crud build up in the full flow filter, your by-pass will start slow and gradually start working better as the system builds up some back pressure. Interesting!
