How long was your 5g4R test drive?

I was just wondering, how long everyone took doing their test drives of their 5th gen 4R (miles or time)? Did you go off-road or stay on pavement? Did you drive just the model you wanted or did you try the other two as well?

Wow--how did u manage that? Was the dealer a friend? Thats amazing- I wish I had had that chance. I actually took multiple test drives each lasting about 20-30 minutes. Most of them consisted of me test driving the SR5 and Ltd models back to back.

Drove all three models on a loop consisting of interstate and town driving. We had several inches of snow during test drive so really did not need to take it off road to try out the 4wd lol. Each loop last about 20-30 minutes. I did not buy then. I went back a week later on a pretty day with no snow or rain on the ground and did the same, only without the Trail edition as I had already decided against that model based on my needs. Funny thing though I liked the looks of the trail the best. Ended up getting the black SR5 and loving it! Oh, added my first mod yesterday...A three bike hitch mounted lockable rack for my specialized 29er hardtail! Will post pics of bike and 4Runner soon.

a week as well, We purchased an SR5 for the wife while I was waiting for my FJ to arrive at the dealer. While she had it the more I drove it the more I was like- I want this!!!!

But I was comparing it to the FJ...

I drove 6 in total. my wifes sr5, the other SR5 they had when we drove my wifes at the dealer, my sr5, a silver trail with KDSS a black trail with KDSS, and the sales managers SR5.

I noted that some of them whine more then others...

i already knew i wanted the 4runner before i drove it. The drive test only solidified my desire for it. lol. The first test drive was about 30 miles, stop and go driving and on the interstate. This was a sr5, but was not the one i ultimately bought.

The next test drive was by myself up and around town, probably only 20 to 30 mins, i already knew i wanted it and had everything i was looking for. I didn't try the trail or the limited, as the trail wasn't available, and the limited was more than i wanted to spend.

I drove two, both were SR5s. The first was with my Dad and it consisted of interstate driving and in the city. My next was with my fiance' to get her opinion. We took it along the freeway and then down some country back roads to check out the handling and how it handles the curves here in WV.

Both drives lasted anywhere from 20-30 minutes. I then proceeded to look about 5-6 more times over the week (color choice drove me crazy), but I bought from my borther's friend in another state. He has the limited that I've ridden in but never drove it, but I knew I wanted on anyway. I have wanted a 4Runner since I drove a '07 Sport back in the day when I bought my first new vehicle.

But, ultimately, I love my SR5. It's a great vehicle built with the Toyota quality.

I went to the dealer with my father to look at a Tacoma, then my Dad wanted me to take a look at a 4r. I ened up test driving one for about a mile and a half in a rural area. The next week I picked up the same one I test drove. 2011 SR5.

I had test drive with Limited first for about 20 min - highway and city. Limited was the only one 4Runner on the lot. Then I found and test drove my SR5 for about 15 min to make sure it's not much worse than Limited. As an offroad test I drove my SR5 from dealership lawn and back to lawn over a curb when it was sitting to show that it's a real SUV : )

We, me and my wife, already knew what we wanted when arrived at the dealer to order our Trail, last December. We have the 2000 4Runner and couldn't find any better looking SUV, in this price range, that we liked more than 5th gen. 4R. We just spent about 2 hours, on the auto show last Spring, sitting inside and comparing between 4R, Highlander and FJ.
Our first "test drive" was last night when we picked up our T4R TE from the dealer
So far, no regrets!

1 miles, 3 minutes? Lol I had my eye on the 5th gen since the day I saw them on Toyota's website. At the time, only 1 dealer in Saint Louis had one. I tested it out, took it down a half mile down the street and I was in love. Good thing it started raining when I was getting my Rsx looked at for the trade in, both window motors were broken lol, signed the papers and it was their problem. :lol:

2 days over 2 month span

I was looking at used 4th gens, when I first saw the 5th Gen on the freeway and thought "is it the new 4runner?" Had to check it out at the dealer a week later just to see what I might be missing out on if I continued my search for a used 4th gen. Test driving it made up my mind so then I sold my Tacoma and waited a couple months to save up for a decent down payment... Then I test drove my new 4Runner just as a formality.

A few minutes / a few miles - exterior and interior is exactly what I was looking for - just had to test out the acceleration, cornering, braking - Did not have issues with any of it - drove back and put my deposit down.

36 months 45,000 miles. I lease all my vehicles and if I get a good one I buy it. If it sucks it goes back. Right now it looks like the good outweighs the bad on my 08 4R so I'm buying it.

Next time I'll do a 12 month 15 k mile lease.

oh, i kept seeing this white 2011 4runner parked around the corner from my office, i would walk by it every few days to lunch. I started walking slower and slower, and one day i just looked at it for like 10 mins. I knew that was it. The white one sure was pretty. But, i've always had black cars, so i got black

2 full days in a black LTD 4x2, and with no nav, and it had 3rd row, and a broken 2nd row seat lever, and 8000 miles. It was a CPOV. I also drove a blue LTD that had NAV in it prior to ordering my black 4x4 LTD with NAV. I sat in the drivers seat of a TE and only reason I didn't buy it on the spot was lack of FTAWD and leather...now I kind-a wish I would have gottan a TE...oh well. The first time I saw the black TE, my jaw dropped...they just look bada$$ right out of the box.

No test drive...signed papers and left dealer...was there less than 1.5 hrs. I did this when I bought my last two 4th gens. I will only drive a 4Runner and I trust Toyota to build a great vehicle.

1 mile from the dealers lot to the nearest gas station to fill her up and then return to the lot before signing papers. My wife just wanted to make sure there were no surprises when she got into the vehicle.
