I go to clublexus too, but it seems that there aren't very many people who like to chat up mods and etc. over there. the most you get into is a XM install.

The problem is that most GX owners are soccer moms or businessman. Very few off-roads. Therefore, I cannot understand why KDSS option is offered on GX and not 4runner.

Prob true Thai! I guess I am in the minority. Or maybe I am just a snob who likes very nice, but capable SUVs...Kinda like you !

Hopefully soon we'll be in somewhat of the majority here.

Thai is right. The atmosphere is different there, probably due to the demographics of the people. I am not big into mods (but I have done a few) but I really enjoy learning about other

I feel lucky because one of my friends has a GX470 with KDSS (TEXGX on this forum and Clublexus). And he does take if off-road with us.

Yep, well worth the money IMHO...but so is the 4Runner. I love them both.

Figured I would post up since I picked up my 2006 2 months ago. I'm not a soccer mom (wrong parts down "there") and not a snobby businessman. I make decent money, and wanted something luxurious but capable off-road. My last SUV was a Pathfinder, and before that a Grand Cherokee. Most people spending this kind of money aren't going to use it to their full capabilities, but like the feeling of "being able to" if they ever decide to cross the continental divide on the way to their cabin in the mountains. They like the "dream"... the lifestyle.

I go camping, backpacking, mountain biking, etc... I need the tow capabilites, and it will actually see dirt. It won't be a dedicated 4wheeler... but will be capable enough for most of my use. I might get an extra set of wheels with some A/Ts... no lift or anything.

Next week, I'm loading up and heading up to Colorado and Utah for some R&R... will see it's first off road duty.

I am in Houston. However, i go to Austin often to visit my family. Are you interested in getting together for light off-roading...we found a little place that the Hummer dealership is using to showcase their Hummers to customers. It's pretty mild.

I'd even be interested in something past "mild". I know the vehicle is capable, and at this point, really the main limitation is the OEM tires.

Normally, I would look forward to it. But I am loading up the GX and leaving town for Colorado and Utah, and will be out of town the next 2 weeks.

was there any big changes in the 06 model and how much more luxury is it compared to the 4runner? I am interested in the GX but the limited 06 might be just as good now.

P.S. Thai how is your MB leather? I had a C320 and the leather I ordered was not what I expected. Same went when I test drove a 05 ML. It felt more like a leather taken from a football.
