How many miles before you would tow?

I just picked up an 08 Urban Runner. How many miles "would" you guys wait to break in the motor/trans before towing a boat? Not a super small boat...19 ft ranger bass boat to be exact.

I believe the owners manual says to wait 500 miles before you tow, and I would go off of that. Definitely double check.

Modern engines require very little break in time and precautions, as opposed to engines manufactured a few decades ago.

The first time I towed with my 4Runner was after about 4K miles.
I had to wait that long because my car trailer was being built.

I agree with other posters that you should refer to your owners manual for the answer to your question.

I would be more concerned with the rear diff. but yes, follow the manual.

I started towing my motorcycle trailer at the 500 mile mark right after I did an oil change (I know the manual doesn't say to do it.. but it makes me feel better).. anyways.. been towing it between NC and WI and FL since then with no problems have about 25K on the clock now.

And before anyone says anything I know.. bikes aren't ment to be towed and I have made all of the same trips while riding as well..
