How many miles is too many miles to put on a SC

What's up guys, haven't been on here for a while but lately I've been looking to buy a super charger for my 02 sport but I've noticed that a lot of the 3rd gens have had the super charger super early in their life or straight from a dealer.

My truck just turned over 100k miles and I'm looking to add the super charger maybe by may or June when the weather is better to work on the truck but I'm wondering if anyone ever added a SC to a truck with high mileage. Does anyone know if it's bad to add a SC after it turned over 100k.

PS I've been pretty good on the maintenance on the truck, the timing belt was done by the previous owner at 89k miles. I've done every oil change with only toyota products and I've changed the oil every 3-5k miles

Your motor just broke in. Its waiting for the SC to be installed.

Most that ask this question are around 200-300k miles and still install it!

It's not an issue of miles but what health the motor is in, mine has 160k on it and I'd add a supercharger in a heartbeat because I know the motor is in great shape. Plenty of people have added the supercharger well after 100k, search around a bit and you'll find them. Check your compression in each cylinder and make sure everything is good and solid there, shouldn't be more than a 15% difference between all of them. If your making good consistent compression in all 6 cylinders you should be good to go. It will also be a good idea to do the supporting fuel mods and either the IPT or transgo shift kit in the trans and add a cooler when you add the S/C to prolong the life of your motor and trans.

Thanks for the heads up, one of the things I'm worried about is doing any fuel mods, specially since I live in CA, the emissions here are pretty strict so that's why I'm worried

Super charger 2002 4Runner in Cali has no problems as long as you have the E/O carb stickers for the kits.

The trd 7th injector was just a band aide. Back when gadget at URd was focused on 5vz he was able to mod it so you can program it and keep the E/O sticker and part number for different fuel profile tunes. Also gadget use to offer a jumper harness to so you didn't have to splice your main harness.

Also as long as you do the nose cone fluid and coupler the trd supercharger is good to go. 175k+ on my unit.

As said before the transcooler and IPT valve body is important to, as the transmission becomes the weaker part of the system after S/C and fuel upgrades.

But once it's dialed in it's good to go and I have the Cali smog results for the last 10+ years to prove it

I have 240k and will supercharge it with a smaller pulley in the next few months. Not the least bit worried thanks to the info on this forum and yotatech.

Charged mine last year at over 275k ... I'm at 288k now.... never too many

My 4Runner was supercharged the day it was purchased and now has 195k or so.

Full disclosure: It is on its 3rd SC. The current one has 100k miles on it.

According to my maint. records from Toyota it says that at 30k it was "making excessive noise" and was replaced. Then at 90k miles it shredded a belt and somehow damaged the radiator and hood insulation thing and was replaced (this one seems weird to me) along with the radiator and timing belt/water pump.
