How many miles on your 4runner?

My 97 was killed by a light running RX-350 in September. But, in July, I celebrated 400,000mi as the original and only owner.

Replaced with a 96 Limited with 262k... You know, a reliable low-mileage vehicle...

repairs have been brake booster,right axle,radiator,ball joint , 2003 4.7 V8 owned since 2005.
Time for off road, has taken me faithfully thru every winter storm in NYC and off road, stock at Rausch creek ready for another 150K and more:bravo:

Lots "O" Miles

Hi, this is my first post. I bought a '97 4runner for my wife about 5 years ago (she kept seeing them on the road and asking, "What's that? I want one of those."-- I guess I'm just lucky!)

Anyway, it had 50,000 miles on it when I bought it and now it has over 176,000 miles. Haven't done a thing to it except preventive maintenance and oil changes. Oh, and a brake job.

Question is: how many miles on your 4runner? How many miles should I expect to get?

If you keep up on the maintenance, you can expect to get well over 300K and into 400K

1996 T4R w/ 180,500 miles. I've owned it since Christmas of 2014, not sure how many previous owners (where can i check without buying a carfax??)

Maintenance within this last year battery, alternator, brakes, rotors, Both rear axles seals and bearings, U-Joints, inner/outer tie rods and lifetime alignment. Soon to get the UBJ, LBJ & all terrain tires.

I had a 1991 4Runner that had 287000 but I got rid of it and got a 1996 4Runner and it has 237000 & it's running strong! It's always been maintained! In my opinion a

motor can last as long as you want as long as it has been maintained and cared for!

I also have a question for you guys! I have a whistling sound when I drive. Only when I accelerate. If the gas isn't pressed it doesn't make any noise. Could it be a vacuum hose or what? The harder I accelerate the louder? Don't think it's tranny or power steering. Any tips would be great! Thanks! :typing

2002 SR5 with only 66,100 miles. Bought from original owner which is pretty obvious with the mileage. Spent its time in rust belt so I have some work to do underneath!!

A thank you to all that posted.

Seeing the mileage people are getting gave me the kick in the tokus I needed to do some preventative maintenance...UBJ, LBJ, ITR, OTR, axle bearings/seals, steering rack bushings, etc. It cost what seemed like a small fortune, but it's money well invested to get another 1-200,000 miles out of it...which will take me about 20-40 years to knock out with my current driving pattern.

I would now trust this vehicle to drive across the country and back
