I have a 96 that I inherited from my Grandfather, original owner. 197k miles andd literally 2 days after i switched names at dmv, the series of problems started. Nothing major yet though *knock on wood*

BAD NEWS...............it was totalled on the 20th, rolled twice and she saved my life.....crushed a vertebrae in my lower back 50%....tons of pain right now. I will miss my trusty steed!

2001 4runner just about to turn 185k.

We want to keep our 4runner until 250k, and since it isn't a dd anymore, i'm thinking we will have it FOURever.

Just purchased a 2001 Limited and it only has 118k miles on it! I'm hoping to get at least 250K out of it....That's if I can keep the frame from rotting in the harsh Northeast

Congrats and post a pic when you can.

If the underside is in decent shape, you may want to look into coating the underside with WD-40 or a product called Fluid Film.

Both are supposed to help a lot in keeping that pesky rust at bay.

I so don't miss my cars rotting away since I left the fine state of Mass.

I have 308K+ miles on my 2000 T4R with 4WD and the 5VZFE. Original transmission and engine! I agree with the other posts; THIS IS THE BEST VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED. I will keep it until it falls apart - probably in another 200K+ miles or more!

Yea I hear ya, the winters suck haha. I'm going to get it undercoated after I get a little bit of work done. Very little rust on it. Went to Rhode island to get it!

I saw a video on YouTube awhile back where a guy in Michigan had melted down a bunch of Vaseline (until it was liquid) and coated the entire under belly of the truck with it and also used a paint brush to coat the inside of the door panels and sheet metal. Lots of work but his 1976 vehicle (GM I believe) had ZERO RUST and he lived in a salted-road state!
