Me too. Then I remember I need to replace the seat bottoms first. Then I promptly shelve the whole idea until someone comes along and mentions seat heaters again

Sorry about that. Having a heated steering wheel would be nice too...
Bought a 2000 sr5 5-speed with 237k on her. The next day I drove her 250 miles and she didnt skip a beat. Had a shop check it out, suspension was nice and tight and it checked out extremely well, essentially a 2 owner vehicle. I have maintenance records from 62k miles. Timing belt was done at 186k. Hardly any rust on the under carriage, Colorado and montana vehicle. I think I lucked out, this thing is an absolute beast.

Not to throw gasoline on the embers, but the seat heaters are one of my favorite mods. Super easy to install and makes all the difference on chilly mornings.

‘06 Limited 4WD purchased Dec. 2018 w/211K mi
Finally found this 2006 Limited 4WD with only 211K miles ;-) in the dark metallic blue. The Carfax was about 30 pages going back to original leased purchase and bought by second owner at approx 26K miles with very regular oil changes and service including engine flush, power steering flush, trans transfer and diffs flushed etc. I am the third owner and the previous owner had it from 26K to 211K and clearly took excellent care of it. I am averaging 19-20 mpg around town and besides purring like a kitten, the ride is smooth with no squeaks or rattles. EVERYTHING is working! Even the TPS sensors. I had to replace the downstream O2 sensor on the drivers side and replace the blown 8” subwoofer, it that’s it!front boots are good and the sound systems sounds incredible with the new Pioneer subwoofer installed. And yes the seat heaters are real nice since they warm up in minutes before the engine has begun to warmup! This is the third T4R I have purchased and the first Limited. My daughter’s got the first two but now they are real jealous of the seat heaters and lighted running boards. I did replace all interior lights with Blue LEDs, I stalled 55watt HID in the low beam projectors and LED 9005s in the high beams and driving lights. Even my old eyes can see now and no one is flashing so I am happy! I expect this T4R to outlast me!!! 214K now and drives like its brand new. (My ‘07 Tundra CrewMax is over 260K now and runs like the day I bought it. I love my Toyota Trucks! 1 Tundra, 3 T4Rs and looking at getting one more ;-).

Are you talking aftermarket heaters? Do you have a favorite?

Yes, I put aftermarket heaters into mine. I went with Dorman universal heaters and am very happy with them.

I currently own 3 3rd gens. Utilize them in my pilot cars services.
The Matriarch, whose name is "Whitey" I purchased new.
Whitey is a '99 SR5 v-6. Current mileage 520,000 and counting.
"Goldie" also a '99 but is a limited v-6 that I purchased with 235,000 and is now at 420,000.
"Silver" is the youngest 2001 SR5 purchased at 235,000. Current mileage 265,000.
All three v-6 automatics.
With the guidance of the many who post on this forum, I have been able to diagnose and repair most issues to keep them running flawlessly.

Mine has 378k and just passed smog (California) with flying colors. Don't know if the engine has been rebuilt or what. I bought 2, 1996s - one for the body and engine, one for the frame and running gear (5 sp manual, rear locker) and put them together. The guy I bought the one with the engine and body from did not know the history of the engine, only said 'it runs good'. The price was so good I took the risk. It has been 2 years doing the build, but finally me and my boys got her on the road this week.

222k on my 97. Bought it with 155k off a guy who bought it from the salvage yard that bought it at the insurance auction after it was totalled in a roll over about 7 or 8 years ago. Jacked the roof back up, put on a fender, mirror and rear quarter glass and have been driving it with a salvage title ever since. I just put a rust free, clean titled 98 body on it and decided to replace all the front end components. When I removed the original ball joints, inner and outer tie rod ends, none of it was worn out! I buy 3rd gen 4runners with bad frames, fix them and sell them. Just sold a 96 with 175k on it and currently have a 2000 with 200k on it. I just got the wife a 2005 with 219k. I regularly have customers with 300k+ miles on their Toyota vehicles (all models) I would drive my gen 3 or my wife's gen 4 across the country without a second thought. Toyotas Rock!

I had a 98 I sold with 265k a year ago, and it’s still running strong. I sold it to my uncle after I totaled it and fixed it. Now I have a 99 with 204k but the previous owner neglected it mechanically so I’m in the process of replacing everything with OEM parts so hopefully I can get another 200k out of it!
