How many miles on your 4runner?

I bought my 2001 4Runner less than a year ago. It had 316,000 miles on it when I bought it and I've put close to another 10k on it.

The biggest issue I'm having is rubber and plastic that's falling apart. When I pull wiring harness connectors apart to disconnect something, sometimes they crumble in my hands. I rebuild them with JB Weld and zip ties.

My tailgate lock actuator has these thin little plastic bands where the screws hold it to the door. They've crumbled so the actuator spins instead of moving the lock.

Other than these little annoyances, it runs great. I love driving it.

'95 at 190k and it's needed a lot of front-end suspension work, but I work it pretty hard off road! Engine still sounds amazing - I bought it at 160k from a guy that had just replaced the head gasket an was looking to flip (likely with the 2nd gens that the head gasket will go when you get closer to 200k...anyone else agree?). If you are mostly driving surface streets, routine maintenance keeps them in great condition for 300k+! I'll keep her going that far.

Hi, newbie here. I have 247,850 on my 2001 Limited 4x4. Runs great, but I baby it. At 244K replaced valve cover gaskets and replaced all shocks and struts with Bilstein 5100. Also replaced the steering gear assembly with factory. Ball joints, too.

2002 4x4 Limited

Just had the timing belt, water pump, and radiator replaced for the first time at 150,700 miles. Didn't intend to go that long but things happen. This was my first major expense besides tires in the 10 years I've owned it (purchased from my father in 2008 with 75k). I've done regular fluid changes, brakes, and battery myself. Hope to run it for another 10 years.

I bought my '96 in 2001 with 50K on it and now it has 270K. Mechanically never had problems with regular service. I odn't drive it as much now that I have a 2016 4Runner but still love it! For 3rd Gens I hear people get over 300K on a somewhat regular basis
