Update
Now has 238,000 n change... Put over 3000 miles on it in the last 4 months. Still runs fantastic. It has only had mobile1 synthetic oil in the last 2years b4 I bought it and I have been running that type of oil in all the Toyota I've owned de 1991.

On our second 4Runner (2015), but our ”old girl” was 18 years old and had 217k! She still ran great, but we as a family needed the third row seats. My Littlest Lovie cried terribly when we went to deliver the old girl and pick up the new girl at New Holland Toyota in LanCo, Pennsylvania.
We also own a 2005 Tundra with 266k...she’s just starting to show her age (blew a lower ball joint at the very top of the mountain, 1 mile up an old logging road on our hunting land).

285K. Had to add a SafeTCap rust cap to the rear passenger side of the frame last month to get it through the safety inspection here in Virginia. Just did the Valve Cover Gaskets last week to fix a big leak, and added Mobil1 Synthetic ATF to the Power Steering reservoir to fix a stiff steering problem that was hitting me first thing in the mornings, usually when it was cold (30s °F). Also had the rack bushings replaced with Moogs recently. Shooting for another 100K out of it and that seems very attainable. With the valve cover job done and the new plugs, it runs like a dream. Still looks pretty good too.

I had a 2000 sport with 134k - that I drove for 1 year, then passed on to my daughter - high school, college, grad school, and another 7 years of new england use........before we sold it. FRAME RUST! The guy that bought it had a business that bought 4runners and shipped them to Haiti. He had a buddy at the other end that welded steel plated to the weak spots and holes.
Here is the amazing part....... the only thing that failed was a "fog light"??? I did oil / filter every 5k, tires and brakes and replaced a muffler....... that's it! Everything worked, AC/ Sunroof, every system in the 4runner was original --- ridiculous

Hit 152k in our '98 SR5... just breaking it in.
10 years and 1 month later almost doubled the miles. Now at 303,xxx miles and still running. 2WD mostly stock aside from an outdated Alpine head unit, Yakima bars, and the Big 3. Some statistics you may find interesting...
Major repairs:
-new driveshaft
-new alternator
Typical 3rd gen busted items:
-clock
-cup holders
-door lock actuator
-door jamb switch
-sunroof motor
-glove box and ashtray lights
-worn out key
-lower ball joints
-valve cover gasket
-rear spring sag *dealer replaced free even as the 4th or 5th owner
Performance: average 16.5mpg mixed, as low as 14.5mpg mostly street, best 19+mpg 95% freeway *during height of the lockdown with basically zero traffic :biggrin1: . I don't drive like a granny either.
Front brakes are the only maintenance item that gets addressed more frequently. Everything else as long as it's done reasonably on time this thing should last forever.
