How many miles per tank to you get?

Im just curious...im lucky if i get 400. Today i was driving and i noticed that it was below the halfway point before i got to 200 miles.

I purchased my 2007 4runner sr5 v6 in November with 70k on her. I just did an oil change 2 weeks ago also. Im just curious to see if this is normal because that averages out to be around 17mpg...which i know it says its rated 17-23 i believe.

I probably drive 3/4 highway and the other 1/4 in town. I never really go over 70 on the highway and in town i try to be easy on her since she is still new to me. Any info or tips maybe you guys can provide would be great, thanks in advance.

i am getting between 275-350ish depending on what type of driving I'm' doing. i have the fj/bilstien setup with 265/75/17 toyo mts. they are 10 ply tires with 3 ply sidewalls so they are pretty heavy....i'm going to do the switch to all synthetic gear oil and an electric fan swap here in the near future so i'm hoping that will help the mpg's...

Im about 340-270 depending on if im doing mostly city or highway. The 340 number is mostly all highway unfortunately. The mileage is per my odometer as well. I reset one if the readings every time I fill up. My 4runner is a 4x4 V8 and i have the factory cross terrain 275 55 R18's. I dont have anything extra on the outside so i hate to see what happens if i change tire sizes, add a rack, add a heavy bumper etc.

Im curious to know how that electric fan swap goes. Will you post or send me a pm with how you did it and what effect it had? Im about to change out my gear oil too so Ill let you know if i see any changes.

Miles per tank means nothing. You need to break it down to MPG...and there are plenty of MPG threads.

I get 23 highway and at the least 17 city. Trust me Im always checking because my old Land Rover was 12 city and 15 highway, lol.

I just keep checking because it makes me smile, lol.

You can only truly go by MPG which means Miles Per Gallon, lol.

From fill up to the time the light comes on i get roughly 360-375. I've been averaging 20-21 MPG. Might be just a touch more than that since im running a 275-55-20 tire.

Sorry.....you have no idea how many miles you have left. The range indicator is extremely inaccurate.


I usually get during the summer about 350-420 (almost all highway driving).

Winter...it drops to about 300-350.

Seriously? How are you doing that with 285s? Mine gives me about 320 when I fill up and it's not terribly far from being accurate. I often watch it when I'm on the interstate and wondering if I can make home or my destination without running out. I can't say I use the full range often, but it's usually 80-120 mile trip when I'm monitoring the lie-o-meter and distance to destination. Guess I should've got those p-rated firestones

I get around 300 v8. 50/50 highway city. I know the answer to this is obvious but I've noticed no change from city to highwy mpg (used to drive 100% city). Why is this? Does highway driving actually give better mpg..?

It should. If it doesn't I highly suspect your driving style. In fact on most vehicles significant better gas mileage. I usually see a 30-40% increase.

Driving at highway speed you're driving in overdrive. So at 70mph the engine is humming along at about 2k rpms. City driving...the tranny is in a lower gear..and probably humming along at 2k rpms doing 30.

Hybrids are the only vehicle that should get BETTER gas mileage in the city because of regenerative braking.

I get about 340 all city "stop n go" traffic. On highway I have done about 360 but that at speeds over 70mph.

2007 T4R 4x4 V8 The computer range is 333 to 340 miles at fill up.
My sister's 2007 T4R 4x4 V6 The computer range is 400 miles at fill up.
