I'm sorry but how does the dealer "jack" you with an extended warranty? If you don't want it then you should have just said no. Simple as that. I think you jacked yourself on that one.

Paid 41,000 on a TE Premium with KDSS. They won't budge much here in SoCal and I showed up late In the day to annoy them and preying on their desire to head home. Only got 1,300 off MSRP
On a side note I overheard the salesman rejoicing over a sale they had just made. They up sold a Tacoma 10k over MSRP with all the crappy add ons that cost them a couple of dollars, and I quote them "see what Kyle just did sold a Tacoma 10k over, you see it can be done."

I would think no if it has no KDSS or other options. If you want KDSS then getting it under 38k might be a push. Some here might have scored that on lot stock if a particular dealer had what they wanted but many here have had to order (me included) and getting that price on an order/allocated unit might require an impossible amount of negotiating and/or sweet talk.
It's worth asking but don't be upset if you get little traction. I hit up dealerships in a 3 state area and no one would go below $38,900 (before TT&L) for a TEP + KDSS + Rear Cargo for a special order except for one so after trying to negotiate for 30 days I finally bit the bullet.

Who cares. All they can say is no. Remember, you can always negotiate from low to high but if you throw out a number they like you can never go lower. Plus right now it seems like some dealers are motivated to move out the 2016's. Have seen some really good deals on here as of late.

Update - dealer won't back off invoice of 39k+. I came up a little but I think I'll wait for 2017s

Just remember that the chances of dealers negotiating even more on the 'last year of the Gen5 4Runner' aka 2017 models are less likely than you getting a deal on a 2016 version.
Perhaps if you wait until the very end there might be better deals if there is remaining stock and Gen6's are on the lot.

I think the idea is to wait another month or so and just get a 17 if they are being stingy on the 16s.

They were pushing 2 out. The one I got and a demo. Demo was $1k cheaper
I couldn't beat that deal anywhere. So I jumped on it.
It took a little bit of work to get there at that price but did it
Luck is with me every so often. Got a hell of a deal when I bought my Tundra. I couldn't buy a used one for what I paid for it. You never know. Sometimes (especially Toyota) you can walk in and they won't budge on certain models....then one day you get a deal you never saw coming. The 4Runner is over priced to begin with but people pay it (like the Tacoma) so it is what it is.
I feel like I made out good. I'm happy. Love it.
The Toyota dealers I have talked to are quoting their invoice about $1000 over what KBB or Edmunds or NADA show as invoice. All games for the Toyota tax.
I might just order a White TRD Pro and just pay sticker. I would like a sunroof but chances are I will never use it.
