How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Finally got one...

After a lot of dealer visits we finally got a 2015 limited with 3rd row seats. Wife really wanted retractable running boards but she'll be fine without them. Paid $150 over invoice. Out the door was $43.7 (I could be off by $100 or so).

I did not have much luck with any of the dealers around Portland and had to go across the river into Washington to get a better price. If I recall the closest I got in the Portland area was $500 over invoice for a 2014. Seems crazy to me, but the market is the market.

Newb here... I was quoted $300 below invoice for a 2014 Limited with 3rd row seats. I'm guessing anything below invoice is probably pretty good, however, just thought I'd check with you guys first. Is $300 below invoice a good deal?

2015 are hitting the showroom now. 2014 are almost old or last year model now. Personally I think you can do better that $300 below invoice. I was able to get 8% off MSRP in Dec of 2013 for 2014 model. I would look at the percentage off the MSRP at a minimum 10% below MSRP. Read through this thread and you will get an idea what people are paying towards the end of the model year. It always help when you work with many other dealers in and out of your area. Good luck!

Thank you very much for the quick reply, I really appreciate it! This forum has been extremely helpful!

MSRP is $44,850. 10% off MSRP would put me at $40,464, including the $99 doc fee. I'll tell them I'll take it for $40,500, including doc fee :-) Guess it's worth a shot!

First post, long time lurker.

I was quoted 40,891 + TTL for a '14 Limited with 3rd row $1500 under invoice. It's the GM's demo so it has a few thousand miles on it.

I live in the Bay Area, CA.

Decent price?

Thanks all!

Hello @DC5 and welcome! Great to see more members from my neck of the woods. I'm in SF.
The important thing is if you think that its a decent price. Basically to me its a used truck already. But dealers in the bay area seems to be able to sell at a premium price. My own cousin's husband best offer was $300 over invoice for a '14 TEP when i was shopping for one last year because there was only 3 in NoCA at that time. I ended up getting it out of the area. I used what I have read and learned from what members had said and done here to make me feel comfortable to what is a good price to pay. Sorry I can't be much more help.

Thanks for the reply. I may just hold off until end of year and see what '14 Limiteds they have left, maybe I can save a bit more. I'm in no rush.

I have unlimited usage of a '14 TEP while my buddy is deployed. LoL, he'll be back home in January, so until then..

That's what I would do too. You will definitely get better prices then for the '14s. That's awesome you get to enjoy driving a '14 TEP while you wait. Win/win on your part. Good luck!

Just picked up a silver 14 SR5 4x4 with exhaust tip, nav, roof rails and carpet mats in Vermont. Sticker was around $36500.

They came down to $32500 and I paid $34k out the door, no money down, with 1.9% financing. Feel like I made out pretty well.

BRING ON THE SNOW!!!!!!!!

Can somebody give me some feedback on this deal?

It is a 2014 Trail Premium w/ KDSS. The 4Runner is in Indiana and they are going to have to transfer it down to Nashville, TN.

They can do $39,400 + TTL which brings it roughly up to $43,125 after all is said and done. Actual purchase price of the 4Runner is $39,200 (+200 for transfer costs, it is actually more but they are eating some of it). MSRP is $41,005 and invoice on the car when I was trying to negotiate with the dealer in Indiana was $38,3xx.

Is that a decent price? I feel like I could do better though. TMV seems to be around $38,600 for this particular Trail Premium.

Thoughts?

*Edit - We are financing through a credit union so nothing through Toyota. This is with no trade either and TN sales tax is 7%.

You should be doing a lot better than that for a 2014. At this late in the year you should take no less than 9-10% off msrp.

Agreed. After reading more posts in this thread I came to realize it wasn't that great of a deal. I'm going to email them tomorrow and tell them that I don't feel comfortable with the deal and give them my offer. I'll probably go in at your suggested 9-10% off MSRP.

When you say 9-10% off MSRP, is that out the door or without TTL? Judging by edmunds.com and truecar.com, TMV/actual purchase price is around $38,500. Unfortunately I don't think they are going to come down too much on price because they are going to have to transfer it in from Indiana and that dealer might not be willing to trade.

If I do 10% off MSRP plus TTL that comes out to be about $39,495. Does that sound like a better price? It would be $36,700 + TTL.

I sell them for a living and can tell you the above math is much closer than the quote that started a trail premium for $39k+TTL. That is Limited territory

Without TTL.

Read this! The Best Time to Buy a New Car Unless you are in need to get a new truck now, I buy my vehicles after Christmas. Look at my old post #126 on p9 of this thread. Paid 10% below MSRP 12/28/13 for a 2014 TEP. At 10% off MSRP you should be targeting a 2015 TEP or 15% off MSRP for a 2014 TEP now. YMMV region to region. Good Luck!

The deal I am getting is $38,115 for a 2015 TEP with KDSS, carpet mats and cargo cross bars. With tax (7.62%), license and doc fees, my OTD price is $41,741. This is in Denver, CO btw.

With a MSRP of $40,950, I am getting about 6.9% off, which I think is pretty reasonable for a 2015 model. And if I choose to finance through Toyota, I get a $500 military rebate!

So I should be getting the 4runner for about $37,000 + TTL? I think my problem is going to be that it is located about 300 miles away and the dealer that currently has it might not want to give it up.

After TTL (7% sales tax on new vehicles in TN) it should be out the door at about $39,600 plus the $200 transfer cost. Does that sound reasonable and something the dealer might even consider?

One thing I'm concerned about is what he is charging me for the tag/registration fees. He said that you can usually bet on about 10% for TTL. Ok, so 7% of that is TN sales tax, I understand that. But 3% (or roughly $1,200) for titling and plate transfer? That's crazy. I called my county DMV for the fees and it only comes out to $106.50 including the county tax and everything.

Price from the dealer on just the Trail was $39,400 and based off my numbers should be a total of $42,264. His out the door price was $1,000 more than that. Where is that other grand coming from? I agree that is getting into Limited territory and based on TMV that I've found for a '14, is really high.

Based on the local TTL fees, I can get a 2015 Trail Premium in red at another dealer for the same price as the '14 and that is even if we paid their asking price.

I got my 14 TEP (no KDSS) back in August. MSRP was $40,677. Out the door I got it for $39,750. Did not add anything to it - no warranty, etc...

The discount before TTL was 8.4% off MSRP ($37,260).
