How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

been getting quotes of $40,000+ from dealers in CO and UT for TEPs.

I don't gethow ya'll are swinging deals that are $2000 to $4000 off those quotes...crazy.

I have a 2016 4R Limited (3rd Row) on Order, was able to get it down to $46k OTD, and that is including accessories including running boards, mudflaps, preferred package, all season carpets, cargo cover, First Aid, door edge guards, roof rack cross bars. (I think that was everything)

I thought it was a very good price and going to be paying less a month than I did with my NX.

One was through Costco pricing, they said csotco pricing was always $1,050 over invoice + fees. The other dealer I spoke to i clearly asked for their lowest offer, expecting to see somewhere in the neighborhood of what y'all have been paying. Granted, this was all over the phone. Maybe I have better luck in person? Just hard to find the time for that.

Yeah I wish Costco would actually tell you Costco pricing, you just get whatever the dealer tells you Costco pricing is.

If it were as easy as saying "name your best price" then everybody would say that. There's a lot of back and forth, bullshitting and such. Haggling is a difficult thing to get used to, but in exchange for your discomfort you can save more money.

Going in person will make you look more serious, but then you will yourself be more committed emotionally and more likely to accept a less than stellar deal. If you go in person, be ready to walk out when they don't give you the price you want.

5 days before I tried to buy a TEP KDSS and the dealer would only come $1000 off MSRP. Just a matter of finding a dealer willing to move metal (and be in a region that commonly does discounts).

You can also use TrueCar to get a starting point price for negotiating. I used it and liked having sales statistics in front of me so I could call "bs" on prices they weren't willing to go to. They also give you pricing of accessories, what you shoul be paying below msrp.

Edmunds also gives you pricing statistics that includes msrp and invoice prices on the vehicles and all accessories.

I have found that if you go into a dealer with a folder full of info and data they know they can't pull one over on you. The last, best thing is to get to a price, stay firm on it and don't be afraid to walk out (especially a day or two before the end of the month). You'll be surprised how that price comes down when they call you back that afternoon or the next day.

I used the True Car web site to get $3100 off on a limited with roof rack cross bars and the rubber floor mats. In a small town 200 miles from where I live. I was shocked the town even had a dealer, it's really small. The biggest discount I could get near me was $500.

is anyone pretty familiar with CostCo pricing structures? Here in Texas, it's $650 or so under invoice for 4Runners. Wonder if it varies by region, state...if it fluctuates throughout the year, etc.

See, here's the thing; there's really no such thing as an "invoice price". It's a farce. It's a made-up term to make you think you are buying at or near a dealer's cost. When the dealer (or Costco et al) uses this term, the psychology of it is to freeze you from further negotiating, because you *think* you're at/near his cost. Fact is, NO business, neither a hot dog stand, nor a software developer, nor a car dealer reveals their costs.

Generally speaking, average discounts on 4Rs are ~5% off msrp, topping out at ~10% off msrp.

Honestly I just said I will pay invoice whatever number they choose to invent. Then I base it off of true car and KBB average. Call Larry H Miller in SLC they treated me well. I had to haggle a bit but not much.

In Edmunds.com you used to be able to build and price vehicles. It would then show msrp vs. invoice for the vehicle and all accessories along with a "fair purchase price".
