This looks like a good deal, in my opinion. You can replace the suspension with something better than the TRDP for less money.

Yes that is what everyone says on here...I have concerns if warranty issue comes up with suspension or drivetrain, will someone try to blame it on a lift? And in LA labor costs are absurd, I have not priced out what labor would cost, and then trust strangers to do it meticulously correct so no gremlins on a brand new $38k SUV? That sort of thing scares me because I do not do my own work. With the cost of a lift and new ATs, plus labor, seems like I could be pushing the price of a TRD Pro??

I know folks strongly say get KDSS...BUT don't folks say if you plan on lifting it the KDSS gets in the way and/or will be minimal difference after you install a lift?
I am still hoping for a TRD...but just talked to another dealer, they have one, Edmunds gave me a price gurantee of $2k under sticker, the guy laughed told me $49k....
I'm also in the market for a Trail Premium with KDSS or a TRD Pro for MSRP...but these LA/OC dealers are marking the Pro up $6K. There is one in Cerritos Toyota, but they aren't budging from that price. The internet sales manager told me that someone will pay the $49K.

just off the phone with Huntington Beach tonight, same thing...starting at 50k and trying to get people to bid on it basically...
PS-guy at Huntington Beach said this is last shipment of the year, no more TRDs will be available? That only two shipments a year of TRD Pro to dealers and this is second shipment
I might end up with a Trail it seems...so then will have to figure out KDSS or no KDSS...really want a lift without the warranty hassles, nor paying someone to screw around with a brand new truck plus needing to buy new tires ASAP..
I love many things about LA, but hate the fact we can't get TRDs at a normal price, our gun laws suck, and so does cost of living hah

The nice thing about Toyota's is they're a mass-produced, readily available commodity in all 50 states and every major city. It's just a tactic. I'd call their bluff.
When buying last weekend, my dealer tried to play the hot-item, high demand, rare on a SR5 Premium. I dared them to give me the opportunity to buy in Missouri and have a chance to visit my family in the same trip.
The dealer in Olathe, KS (KC-Metro area) has 7 TRD Pro's in stock below MSRP. (I have no affiliation, was just going to buy there if my deal fell through locally).

I have to figure that out if I cant get a Pro....one thread I read seemed to say KDSS is the bomb BUT if you plan on doing a lift later its a hassle and not that big an improvement???
If you want to deal the manager I spoke to at Carson is awesome, she may hook you up

If I was not leaving to Canada for a bear hunt I would consider a road trip for under MSRP! for the amount over they charge here I could afford the gas!

Well if I cant find a Pro, I will have to research the KDSS threads again. I have fingers crossed a high level executive for Toyota lives in town (as many of them do) and hooked a buddy of mine up on an SR5 last year, so he is seeing if they will help me out. Seems the only way I could get a Pro here, because I am not paying $5-6k over sticker EVEN if I was loaded, absurd. So I may need to consider Trail. But as I've said in other posts, from my perspective a guy who does not have a garage or tools....if I bought a Icon Stage 1 or 2, or a Toytech Boss, plus new ATs, AND had to pay labor, I would be right where a Pro is sticker (if you could even get one sticker in this state)....AND I get really nervous about lifting a BRAND new vehicle, warranty, any quirks....I lift everything I drive (almost with exception of a Jeep WJ and one pickup over the years), but I only lift them after warranty is over and miles are piled up on them. Makes me so nervous that I could get a new vehicle, then someone puts a lift on wrong, and rather than cruising around wide eyed happy thinking reliability, I am cursing that I messed with a brand new rig, even if it was alignment issues, or someone on here having CV issues, not level side to side, etc...
So I have research to do if I end up getting a Trail. Just not much time, bear hunt coming up, and my girl just got a scary diagnosis the big C, and I am in the middle of big projects with deadlines in next two weeks...so its consuming enough emailing and calling dealers just looking for a Pro...but feel free to comment on my concerns with lifting a Trail right out of the box, I am all ears and no guru. Shhhh, I know more about Jeeps than I do Toyotas! Love/hate Jeeps...if I was in the woods all the time I LOVE them, but using one as a DD is a pain and reliability is nothing like a Yota...
****for those of us in LA/OC/SF with dealers who will not work on prices....some of the tips from other members I am learning is that it seems getting the price gurantee from Edmunds is a good route (if the dealer you choose actually accepts it), or getting a Costco membership.

Remind me if you can remember around May 25th....when we are up there off the grid so far in boonies, no cell....100% guarantee to see bears. Last year I shot one first night, and everyone else in camp (10 people?) shot one too...my dad had SEVERE kidney stones and the drive out to the stands with the guide is like doing the Baja in an old Dodge truck on lodging roads and no roads, so my poor dad had such severe pain issues missed 3 nights in a row....the good thing about getting mine first night, was that rest of week I stayed in the stand with my dad. Good times, never know how many more hunts we have together. We watched all kinds of bears ALL WEEK together, he was just in so much pain from stones and the bouncing ride (I am talking BAD take roads I would be in 4 low this guy was driving high speed, said his trucks only last 40k miles), his nerves were shot and he could not hold the gun steady.
But yea, we have been ripped off before with "guides" who were clueless..this place, bear watching EVERY day....amazing fishing....and no other humans in the area its really off the grid time away from civilization.

Am finding it difficult to get a reasonable estimate on the invoice for the TP above with KDSS,BLACK TUBE STEP RUNNING BOARDS, Sliding Rear cargo Deck, cargo net, all weather floor mats.
Also, the dealers have a couple of KDSS's without any of these options. I take it these options are all dealer installed right?
Anybody have access to these figures.. cause the Costco ones seem a bit off to me..

you need one with the sliding cargo deck, that's not dealer installed
for the cargo net and all weather mats when you have basically agreed on the price, and they say "so if we can do $XX,XXX then we have a deal?" or whatever just pause and think about it and say "we have a deal if you can throw in the mats and cargo net." It costs them almost nothing, just negotiate it in after you already worked out the price.

Just been told that the Gulf states (currently in Texas) only do Trail/Trail premiums with KDSS/rear sliding cargo deck on special order @MSRP with a 3-4 month wait! I've seen previous suggestions to go out of state to get one cheaper. Any ideas on who'd be (state wise) stocking up KDSS orders and recommendations on dealers to get one..
