Looking at TEP with KDSS out in Kansas. Trying to get them to add options but its not clear if the can. Also, apparently they've had severe hail so not so sure now

Hi, I am a newbie here, and I don't have a T4R yet. I was at a dealership this morning shopping for a LE 4x4, and was offered at an invoice price plus TT&L.
I was also told that the 4Runner now is manufactured in both Japan and U.S. Can someone here confirm if it is true? The two LE 4x4 quoted for had two different model numbers, 8668J and 8668A, respectively.

If the VIN starts with a J it's made in Japan.

This is a great thread, I'm looking at new rigs in AZ or thereabouts.
I guess the moral of the story is to avoid the West Coast, ESPECIALLY the Pacific Northworst, if you want a reasonable price. When I was in Seattle the dealers "wouldn't budge a cent" off the sticker price. :sniper: I guess the demand is just too high and there are plenty of morons willing to pay sticker or more.

All depends on dealer, some yes, others just want you to make a deposit and see what color comes in next...

I don't get that. We only get them when they're ordered for a specific person so there is no "see what color comes in next" lol.

My friend, I see you are in Texas. That is America...things are different. I have lived all over this country, with a huge chunk of time in DC and now LA. The DC metro area although rich in patriotic history and the capital of our great nation, is not really America as I knew it growing up in OH/PA, or living in other places where God, guns, trucks, eye contact, handshakes, your word, father and sons hunting, community fellowship, Sunday being a time for church and family dinners type things are normal. SoCa is a different animal as well.
CA is one of the favorite places I've ever lived to be honest, except for gun laws and cost of living. BUT dealing with businesses its a totally different ball game, its not small town kind of authentic human interaction. I love living in a beach town and some really laid back great folks...but going car shopping in CA is annoying...the calls I get half the time sound like panicky teenagers scrapping for sales to make ends meet....I am just a number, and I am not loaded so I am not as appealing as all the wealthy people who own 4-5 cars and will pay over sticker price just to be cool.
PS-I've always loved TX, but just cannot stand the heat in the summers. Otherwise it would be on my list of possible places to move in the next 5 years.

Hi- Been lurking. I called multiple dealers stating that I wanted a white SR5 with only navi and 3rd row- and I was willing to pay 6% under MSRP. They all needed me to "come in for a test drive" or emailed back some ridiculous offer. I ran into Gary at South Coast Toyota (Costa Mesa, CA). He said, "I don't have anything on the lot, but when I find it, you can have it for 6% under." 2 days later he found one on the boat, but it wouldn't be available for 2 weeks. I needed a car...they offered a loaner until the 4runner arrived at the port. Today we signed paperwork for 45 min..and that's it. Gary is bad ass.

I forget which thread I put it, but those of us in SoCa having hassles with dealers, call Dianne at Carson Toyota or Evan at Cabe Toyota. Both of them will charge only a few hundred over invoice and no needing to come in for test drives or haggling...I would have used either of them but wanted a TRD Pro and they had none. For Trails and SR5s they give you the price no pain in the butt stuff and are super nice people.
Just bought my 2016 Super White SR5 4x4 last night in Northern California.
Options: Cross bars, Cargo Tray, Floor Mats, Entune Premium and 3rd Row Seat (which I didn't want but oh well).
Bought through a friend that works at the dealership, unfortunately no employee pricing LOL.
$38,900 OTD including all the dumb fees and 8.75% Sales Tax
I did a fair amount of research in neighboring states, mostly to find a truck with no 3rd row. I could have got one around 38K OTD without the 3rd row, but I would have had to drive with the wife about 2 hours each way to get it.
Figured it wasn't worth the hassle and just bought it locally. Love the truck no regrets. Need to add running boards for the wife to get in easier, then some wheels and tires and some TRD Pro doodads.

So clarification, I was almost 1250 under invoice in CO, however, it is possible a small part of that was overallowing in the trade, they were about $500 from bluebook price for the trade. Still the net effect was that I got a below dealer invoice price and cut into their holdback.

Exactly, it is amazing at how CHEAP members here are getting their TEP w/ KDSS and Pro's. I got my end of '14 SR5P for $39k OTD and that is considered a STEAL of a price here. Pro's sticker for $52K+ and are sold immediately. We have such a high cost of living here but the overall high income offsets it. We are already the new San Francisco. Just waiting until my rent increases to $3,100/mo.

Amen to that, and that certainly seems like a great deal, your truck looks badass.
The COL in Seattle got too high for me, so back to LA area I went. I never thought I'd see the day when SD/LA seemed reasonable compared to Seattle, but it's here and I know the COL in Seattle is STILL climbing faster than anywhere in the country. I absolutely LOVE the summers there, especially up in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forrest mountains, as well as those cool little towns that line both sides of the mountains, but it was just too much $$$ to stay there.
