My 99 was used as a workhorse and it was not in the greatest condition. I was able to get $4k for it despite having a myriad of issues. I was surprised how much interest I had in it. Seems like lots of people are looking for a 3rd gen! I probably could have gotten more, but we both walked away happy and that was more important to me than snagging an extra couple benjamins!
Agreed. A good deal is where all parties are happy. Same applies to new cars. The dealer needs to make some profit to stay in business and in turn provide service to customers. To me it not worth it to squeeze the last dime out of a deal. The seller may not want me as a customer.

Your 99 may have been considered as a fixer upper. In 4 years my oldest grandson may get my 99. He can put some money in it and have a real gem. Plus he will get a chance to learn to drive a stick shift.
:dancin:

Congrats on your new Limited.

For those of you who negotiated the price down, did you use anything other than references to sites like Edmunds and reports of prices here? I've got another dealer who might price match if I show them a "written proposal fit the same unit". Do you think showing the invoice from one of your deals would help?

We used TrueCar together and also went through this thread. I told him I don't wanna get screwed and I know he needs to put food on the table. We both walked away pleased and it never felt like a battle. You can get a written (well emailed) proposal if you go through a dealerships Internet sales department.

This is what I did and ended up at $38,800 for my Trail Premium w/ KDSS and a few extra add-ons. Had the price I wanted before I went in and got a little more off after 15 minutes. Boom, done.

That's exactly what I paid through Costco for mine with the same options 10 days ago. Didn't pay delivery or anything else, total was $38,500. Trucar showed a few hundred cheaper.
Hi People! I'm ready to buy my first SR5 Premium 4x2WD Super White w/Black Interior, No 3rd Row seating, 4Runner! I've been shopping around and I've been to several dealers in the Los angeles area. from Long beach to North hollywood. I'm a bounty hunter out to catch me the best deal I can. As of yesterday morning (May11th), I've been approved to finance from my credit union bank. So far, the best deal I actually have written down from a nice saleslady at Gardena, CA. Toyota is $39,152.95 "out the door" that includes Tax,Title, and License. No Trade in. No money down yet. She was like "I'm literaly giving it to you for .80cent over invoice.
and I was all like "whaaaa!?"
and she was like "yeah"

So what do you guys think? Can I find a better price on TruCar.com?

Got a deal working now on a 2016 Limited Magnetic Gray, Redwood Interior 4x4 for 41540. Trying to get them down to 40,500 and throwing in remote start.

Final Offer 41,000 with the remote start installed for free, and a rear cargo cover thrown in as well. I think I got a good deal.

That is good. Lowest I found was $41,780 for a limited 4x4 in BP,carpet mats,all weather mats,mudguards.

But I would have had to wait for it.

I am in the middle of working a deal for a SR5 Premium with only cargo cross bars. No third row seating.

The MSRP if I build it on Toyota.com is $36,855.

He is offering me $34296 for the vehicle. It is a little hard to compare. He is starting with a SR5 on the lot that has running boards, carpets, and cargo cover and removing them from the vehicle so it matches my build exactly.

If my math is right that is basically right at 7% off of MSRP.

With taxes and title he is saying OTD is $36737.

Is that a pretty good deal? Should I ask for anything else?

Thanks for the input.

I bought my 2015 trail premium with KDSS, floor mats, tint and cross bars on August 5th for $37,582.95 before tax. Total came to $39,986.43 after tax. It had some stupid door protectors on it that I made them take off before I took delivery. Sales guy said he would give me the cargo cover if I returned the survey with a satisfactory rating, but I never got around to it.

They tried pretending like the other sales guy was on the phone with someone that would pay sticker to get me to pay more. I called their bluff and told them to go ahead and sell it. There will be more. All in all I think there about 30 minutes from the time I walked in to the time we finished negotiating the price.

Great price . What was a MSRP ? any other options installed ?
Do you mind to tell Dealer location ?

I am looking to get one soon.
Thx

I called CostcoAuto and they put me in contact with a Houston dealer in their program. I told them the specs I wanted and they emailed me back with a price sheet. Not only did they add in $235 floor mats and $345 running boards that I did not ask for, their price was $2586 higher than what the CostcoAuto site listed (this different is after I removed the price of those two options I didn't want, so I could compare apples to apples). So ... what's the point of this Costco program if the dealer doesn't actually offer the price listed on the Costco site?

Can i get a price check on a new 4runner? I think it's an OK deal but wanted some input.

2016 Trail base, Red with KDSS for $39,458 walk out the door with a 3rd party lifetime powertrain warranty.

I'm seeing prices close to this on a few Trail Premiums and wanted to know if i need to go back to the drawing board. I am in Georgia and have to deal with Southeast Toyota but i would like an educated opinion on the price.

Just last week I got my 2016 Trail non-premium, KDSS and nav for $39.3k out the door. Also SE Toyota, I'm in NC.

I emailed another dealer, referencing the $38,771 price I saw on here for a similar build. Some a-hole baited me into going into the dealer promising to beat that price by $500. After several emails trying to verify they would honor the price, I went in. They tried to get me to sign at MSRP. I raised hell and one of the managers came out (some other a-hole with fancy earrings). He made a big to-do about not losing money on a special order and martyred himself by offering to sell me a TEP with KDSS, sliding cargo deck, and overpriced carpet floor mats for "invoice" -- $39,909 + TTL.

I highly suspect this is NOT the true invoice, but I'm going off of data from here. So can you help me understand some of these details? This invoice listed $1100 T.M.F., $830 BASE-VEH-HB, $416 FINANCE RESERVE, and $21 PIO-HB. What the heck are those charges? Are they BS or actual things I should have to pay for as a buyer?

Otherwise, the invoice listed base price of $35061, $1505 KDSS, $301 cargo deck, $150 floor mats, $-435 KIW Savings, and $960 dest fee. These all seemed on par.

I like you, am in the Gulf States Toyota distribution region. I made up my mind long ago that I would purchase out of state as KDSS didn't seem readily available here and Gulf States tends to take greater liberties in concern with the fees that they pass along and the port-installed options they place on the vehicles to drive the price up. Below is a pic of my vehicles window sticker with all options and fees (some of which are not seen but are built into the MSRP, like advertising and marketing fees). My selling price for the vehicle was $38,336.78. Paid the 6.25% TX sales tax, as well as $169.27 IL doc fee and $10.00 for 30-day drive out tags so I can title and register the vehicle back in TX.

If those fees are in addition to the MSRP amount then that is not kosher and you shouldn't pay them and would not want to get into dealings with that dealer. Best of luck in your search.
