How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Yes- invoice is a game. I got an 'invoice' quote for an equivalent vehicle from my local dealer that was $900 more, and then they wouldn't negotiate the options I didn't want. Even if I could have gotten mine cheaper, I don't mind a reputable honest dealer making a little profit.

MSRP from that dealer is $38,830.00. Only options are carpeted floor mats and sweet ass exhaust tip.

That's ~5% off MSRP, which is about a "good average" discount. The higher above 5% you get, the better a negotiator you are. When you're at 7-8% you're a pro, above that is God-like.

I picked up my 2016 Trail Premium a couple of weeks ago for $40,100 before tax & license. MSRP was $42,055. I negotiated with several local dealers and that was the best I could do. 4Runners are pretty popular around here. Several were sold while I was negotiating, so it made it difficult to grind them down too much.

I went through Seth Cook at Atkinson. I talked to five or six dealers around Texas since I had a classic bait and switch the last time I bought locally (long story but they had to give me $5000 worth of Sequoia options I didn't pay for). Seth was recommended by a friend who bought his granddaughter attending Blinn a new Tacoma. Nobody could match Seth's quotes in his and my cases.

As my friend 'told me so' I got the best price and exactly the vehicle I wanted without a bunch of unnecessary options, like running boards, remote start, etc. No one else could quickly find me a silver Trail; it seems he has a good connection at the port.

The $100 I paid a friend to drive us to Bryan was worth every penny. It was refreshing to see how professional Atkinson's operation and staff are compared to the other dealers I've been to, and Fargo's BBQ nearby was excellent!

If you end up there tell him Eric and Sally referred you; I don't think I get anything out of it, but he deserves to know we appreciated working with him.

Anyone reading this thread in SF Bay area should consider Freeman Toyota, call and ask for John Coffaney....no hassles, no haggling, no negotiating...tell him what you want he will order it and give you best price the first time, and no games, no BS, no nothing other than honest straight shooting. I got my TRD about $2k UNDER sticker price which is unheard of anywhere in the state of CA as far as I know.

When you say out the door do you mean tax, title and license, if so, what is your tax rate? Because if this includes taxes, of any percentage, this price is almost $3000 or more below invoice, which is almost unbelievable?

When I was purchasing my 15 TP, I called a well respected contact, an owner of a Toyota dealership many states from me, told him the deal I was getting and he said take it. And it was no where near $3000 below invoice...

The absolute lowest price for the Trail MSRP is 37,460. At 35,900 OTD that would mean they sold the truck for around 33,500 + 6% florida sales tax + fees/registration would put it at around 35,900.

That is almost 11% below MSRP (37,460 > 33,500... almost $4,000 below sticker).

I think a lot of the prices listed that are OTD aren't disclosing their tax liability. For example, in most states, if you trade anything in the value of your trade is subtracted from the total price of the vehicle. Meaning you can pay $1000 less OTD if you trade in a vehicle for 15-16k. Even if you owe on it.

For reference my Trail was 38,100 MSRP with extra accessories. I got it for $35,700 and OTD was $37,000 because I saved a lot of tax money by trading in my pickup truck.

I just bought a '16 SR5 Premium 2WD with the 3rd row for $39k OTD. I believe MSRP was just over 39k and I paid $36k. Pretty much every dealer I talked to gave me the same discounts. I just had to find a dealer that had it in stock! I was very picky about the options/color so that did inhibit negotiating some. They were the only dealer within 3 hours with the vehicle in stock.

Yes tax, title, and transfer tag. I had an issue with a manager at the location, and i had posted a review of the incident. Then got a call apologizing about what happened, next thing you know they rolled out the red carpet for me. Dealer was a true car approved dealer(not that it means anything, they're all money hungry scum). The new manager told me i got the thing for 300 under their invoice, keep in mind the only option was navigation. I didn't want kdss. He also told me it turned from a sale to a customer service issue. Pretty much begged me to to delete my review on them.
