How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Do people buying new 4 runners realize they are spending 40kish on a new car that doesn't come with the new standard of the industry safety features that are and will be on all cars next year. Foolish. I want to replace all my cars some day with the fender bender and life saving new features.

Yep and I for one don't need all the extra drivers "assistance" junk. That was a major reason I purchased the 4Runner now before it gets added. Not foolish it's called a personal choice.

I am picking up my TEP on Tuesday (I hope.) It was ordered in March. I will be accepting delivery if the price I was given over the phone yesterday is still the price when I see the dealer on Tuesday. Anyway, hoping for the best. . . It is kind of complicated and I don't want to go into the messy details.

I will post the price details here, if not the messy details, once everything is settled. In the meantime, if anyone would like to post the price they paid - before TTL, that would be great.

This is what I mean:
New Car Model and Year
Toyota extras such as KDSS, running boards, etc.
Price before tax, title, and license.

This will help others who want to know ballpark what a Forerunner will cost. The price of new cars should not be a mystery revealed only at the dealership . . . :cheers:

I agree its your choice. People said the same thing about air bags, seat belts, child safety seats etc. How many lives and lifelong injuries were prevented? It is your choice but being dead or hurt is really bad.

Planning on buying a 2016 Trail Premium within the next month or two. My dad is recommending I wait for a "Fall Clearance" event to make room for the 2017 models. He bought a 2006 Tacoma Prerunner at the time and got it for about 24k, so that's why he's wanting me to follow his steps.

Now I don't expect a 4Runner to drop half its price, but would it be likely for the Trail Premiums to drop a decent amount or am I wasting my time?

I own other autos with some of these new features, but I don't feel any more Safe in those vehicles vs my 4Runner. I think you come across wrong on a 4Runner forum insulting folks for purchasing this vehicle. Do you plan to trade in your 2015?

You are wasting your time, 4runners in any trim don't generally stay on lots too long . You will see a lot of low end toyotas sitting on the lots and being discounted... Let's say the 100 silver camrys or the blue corollas

My dealer was like "Here's our best price. If you don't like it we will sell it to somebody else for more tomorrow."

And in case anyone thinks it's a dealer thing, that same salesman told me they would take $6,000 (that's 25% of MSRP) off a Camry if I bought it that day.

Wasting your time.

The 4Runners never have incentives or go on sale because they have zero trouble selling every single one they get. Find the one you want and find it quick

Guess I should have known. Last week I was there looking for any Trail editions. Only one there was a lifted Trail selling for 51k in the showroom. Went back today and saw just one stock Trail Premium in barcelona red in the lot. Exact one I wanted. Already had a big SOLD sticker on the windshield.

Number two very new model cars without it in a year or two wont be worth as much as before it became mandatory on all new cars. I figured my view would not be popular on this forum but collision braking is probably the biggest safety invention since the air bag. My wife got rear ended on a stopped highway. Her back that was perfect her whole life is screwed up bad. My daughter rear ended a car and caused other people pain. Rear end collisions are our biggest accident problems.

i think you are looking at the timing incorrectly. now is the time to buy, in my opinion. 5 years from from now people will want level 3 or better driverless for safety, not just some basic emergency stopping. that said i am guessing driverless will be quite expensive at that time in a larger vehicle like the 4runner so i plan to keep the 4runner and replace our 2nd car with driverless in 5 years or so (or possibly just use one of the services).
