I was about to buy a brand new sr5 premium but low and behold i was looking on Craig's List and there was a 2016 silver Limited with the power step and only had 9000 miles on it and i paid $40K thought i would let someone else take initial depreciation. Where we live Toyota's hold their value very well here in Hawaii. also it 4x4 3rd row everything we wanted just took it in for it's 10k service wife loves it. Now i want a TRD sport Tacoma might try and find one lightly used also. By the way i am new here ALOHA. i Just sold my 2006 Dodge Diesel big difference but wife drives it most of the time :girl:

That seems like a great deal. Can you tell me which dealer you went through? Maybe a PM of who the sales guy was? I can't seem to find anything close to that around here.

Pickup up silver SR5 under H level pricing. IIRC the options were enhanced entune, floormats, cargo cover, running boards, homelink and the goofy paint treatment. It was a transfer and the other dealer had added tint. MSRP was right at 38K and I paid 35,600 or so before TTL. Not exactly sure of the exact price because they were eating the cost of the tint since they had quoted without it. I offered to split it with them since I probably was going to get it at some point.

Going to pick mine up tonight! 2017 Magnetic Gray TRD Off-Road Premium w/ remote start, sunroof option, nerf bars, rails, clear bra and tint. Listed at $42,435 and they dropped it to $38,925 and threw in GAP insurance for free. After TT&L it came out to $43,076. Family Toyota of Burleson in Burleson, TX.
Congrats! Glad to see dealers are dealing on 17s and not just 16s. Mine will be here in a week.
Except for one dealer in my area, none are really coming off more than 5% off MSRP. At a little over 8% off MSRP, competing dealers cannot believe I am getting that deal, which around here seems pretty standard.

So is it completely unreasonable for me to expect to pay invoice on a 2017 trd off road with KDSS and nothing else? No one in North Dallas is willing to deal but they are all willing to order one at MSRP.
If I am way off, let me know and I will reset my expectations.
Alternatively, anyone have a contact thats reasonable or a Texas dealer thats easy to work with? I dont mind flying out to pick one up.

You may need to expand your search area. Also, going through internet sales tends to save some of the usual bs. You could also try an auto broker.
Yeah, looks like I might have to do that. Just typed in Toyota dealer and expanded the map way out. Lets see what FAR North Texas nets me.

Be patient and follow this thread. Seems that a lot of people are getting great deals on 2017 models. If they don't want to give you a good deal then move on.
I am in the same boat. I am looking for a 2016 TEP or 2017 TRD Off-road premium in Magnetic gray and there is only 1 in the entire state of AZ currently. I have a friend I've known for almost a decade working at a fairly high ranking position at my local dealership and so far the best he's offered me is over $40,000 + TTL for something with an MSRP of ~$42.5k. I swear just a couple months ago I could have walked into the same dealer and had the 16 TEP for 36k+TTL but now it's like they've all been snatched up. I don't know whether to be encouraged or discouraged at seeing the great deals people are reporting on 2017 TRD off road premiums here because it seems like you guys are living in a different world than I am. I'm about to burn this bridge on this friendship if I don't start seeing some love, haha.

I know. I should have bought one at Christmas. Well, for now, I'm going to pay the 2k to fix my car and keep looking. I tried a dealer way out in the boonies and so I'm hoping they play ball. If not, I'll just keep driving my pos until the prices come down.

Hey Guys,
Hope this tactic helps those of you still trying to find a good deal on your next T4R or any car for that matter: (I've come up with this strategy after having spent time selling, brokering and purchasing many cars over the years and it always works)
Step 1: Test drive all of the different trims/models you may be interested in. (Don't talk numbers or give any details about your plan to a dealership)
Step 2: Build/option out the exact vehicle you want (colors, options, accessories, etc.)
Step 3: Locate as many local dealerships as possible and create a list.
Step 4: Create an email template that you will send out to every dealership internet sales department. In this email you should specifically state every option from Step 2 and that the best Out The Door price is the one that will win your business. Also state that you are collecting bids over the next several weeks and will be notifying everyone of your decision once you have all of the quotes. Don't give any superfluous details like what part of town you live in or when you would be able to swing by, etc. (You shouldn't have to set foot into a dealership to negotiate the best price) Some dealers will say they are unable to provide a quote like this but that's BS. If they won't quote just move on to the next one. I add a note specifying that I am not using quotes to "cut other dealer's throats" with pricing, simply seeking the best price. That sometimes makes a dealer less hesitant to provide pricing in this manner.
Step 5: Organize all of your quotes and then go with the best price!
Note: If you're still not satisfied with the pricing you're getting expand your dealership search radius. (I live in Atlanta and ended up going through a dealership in North Carolina who gave me such a good deal on my '17 TRD Pro 4R compared to any local dealerships I couldn't say no)
I also have a payment calculator that I used to use when I worked at a dealership...happy to share with anyone who is interested.

I'm currently being quoted about 10% under MSRP for a '16 TEP from 3 dealers; some are a bit under 10, some a bit over. Not my preferred colors but this is where you need to be flexible to get the deal.
I'm leaning towards waiting a bit longer for more '17s to roll in so I can squeeze another $1000 bucks out of them.
