How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

That's amazing......but what did you trade in?

Nothing. I just applied what I learned in micro economics to the buying process. I called around 20 dealerships and had them competing for my business. Competition drives down prices.

I'm actually pissed at myself for losing up on a better deal becaaue I changed my mind at the last minute about which color I wanted. I had the dealership I bought this one from down to 32,200 on a super white TRD Off Road. But when I changed my mind and about the color and they wouldn't come down on this one because it had more options. Nither of these vehicles were on the dealers lot.

This was actually my first new car purchase. I'm 25.

I was just determined I wasn't gonna get screwed that much on what I wanted.

That's awesome, so let's see your dealership paperwork showing what you paid.

Sorry, but "determination" isn't going to convince anyone that you magically were able to get a vehicle 5k-6k under invoice, and 8k-9k under what most people are paying.

I felt stupid after reading some of these prices, but then again, I only worked with 2 dealerships and spent a week and a half shopping....which I hate, so I think I got a fair price.

I got 2017 classic silver sr5 4x4 with entune NAV, nfab bars, and Michelin defenders OTD for 35k. Also got about 1k more for my trade in.

I'm not a great negotiator. Went back and forth with 2 dealers just a couple of times.

If I had to do it over and I think I would have tried to get a premium for that price.

I wonder what 2017 sales will be like? Good I imagine...I see quite a few brand new ones on the road. Have to think some folks were like me and wanted a 5th gen before it becomes a 6. But then when 6th gen comes Toyota will pick up a lot of customers drawn in by the new changes.

I also got the feeling they don't really need to drop the price on 4runners much, they're gonna sell at a good price. But, yea, congrats to the dude who whipped 20 dealers and got the off road for 34. Way to go!

I don't care if I convince anyone or not, to be honest. I have nothing to gain from lying to a group of strangers about what I paid for a car.

You'd be surprised by the characters on the Internet who feel there's tons to gain. Why do you think the "pics or gtfo" emojis exist? People constantly make stuff up to try and look cool. It would honestly take you 30 seconds to snap a pic and I'd love to look like a tool for being wrong, as that's an unheard of price.

Honestly, a pic would show everyone else that with some serious determination future buyers could save a lot more than we think and have some leverage to go off of. I know I used this specific thread as an idea and some leverage when purchasing my vehicle.

Heck, I just purchased a nearly identical 2017 4runner in the same state. If I saw your paperwork I'd know where to go and have some leverage. If you were able to save me the 9k like you claim you were able to do, I'd gladly give you a grand for helping out. I'm sure others would do the same, I mean to save that kind of money..

I'd use a pic of his in a heartbeat to attempt to get a lower price. I'm already doing the call around game, but I don't see me getting it knocked down that much by doing that alone.

Out the door price? Where did you pick it up and what was your method, showroom or internet sales?

OTD was more due to the negative equity on my trade. Had I not had that it would have been around 35300 OTD. Got it at Beaverton Toyota in Oregon, they discount there inventory all the time. I thought it was a hook to get you in and low ball on your trade, but they actually offer about 1k more on my trade than anyone else.

$300 over invoice on a 2017 Off Road with employee pricing on the Toyotacare program for 8 years with 125,000 miles. There again, my buddy is the finance manager.

Just bought a 2017 Limited for my wife in Barcelona Red which was hard to find around here. MSRP was $44,835 paid $40,500 and the salesman dropped it off at my front door which was over 3 hours away!

Great. $40,500, is that included tax and fees?

Just picked up a TRD ORP, MGM color, no moonroof, KDSS, running boards, roof rack cross bars and all weather floor mats w/cargo liner for $40,488 + TTL. About the best deal I could find in the CA Bay area.

2016 silver Trail premium w/KDSS, moon roof, sliding cargo tray, etc, etc. 11,000 miles

From Carmax in SoCal was $36,900

Carmax has a no haggle policy and I felt lucky to find one in a color I liked. People were calling on it while I bought it. These vehicles are pretty rare find especially used with low miles, I really wonder how truthful people are being in this thread about price paid.

Yeah you'd think they'd have a better way of tracking a vehicle, especially one that is claimed. Never been in the auto business though so I can't think to know what or why it's done that way.

No go on my wife's client doing anything as she doesn't sell Toyota's anymore. Is going to give us the info for someone else here in Central California who she claims is the best out of all the local dealerships. Again though, cannot get a Trail or Trail Premium without KDSS. Not against KDSS, but with a lift later it's basically pointless to get it as far as I'm concerned.

If I were in VA still I'd be walking away today with a 4Runner.

Finally came in Saturday.

In Cali seems like you guys pay a pretty penny. In Atlanta I bought the same vehicle new for less than you paid. No BS.

I believe it. I couldn't find anything in CA, which is why I had to drive to AZ to pick up a vehicle -- and I still didn't get anything like the deals that people in the South and Southeast seem to be able to get.

2017 TRD Off Road Premium, Nautical Blue. $41,114 sticker price. Paid $37,800 OTD. It is somewhat cheaper since I had no sales tax on it due to trade in.

Really starting to lose my patience with the Fresno area dealerships in California. Some just flat out don't want to work with you, others are just slow as can be.

Beginning to feel flying home to VA and purchasing there and driving the vehicle home is my best option.

Anyone recommend not doing this? Or have done this and have any pointers on what to do? I assume the main thing is to not let them know you're going there strictly because of that as they'd never want to lower the price.

Probably will check some of the closer states first before doing this, but so far nothing seems to be different.

I could not find deals in AZ. The demand for 4Runners is high here too, maybe not as high as in CA. Last year, all dealerships I went to were asking for above MSRP for Trail Premium/TRD Pro. I go to school here and ended up having to purchase my TRD Pro this year in Washington (my home state) for MSRP and will ship it here or drive it back.

The first thing the salesman in Flagstaff asked me when I called was, "I see you're in the 818 area code. Are you in California?"

"Uh, yeah," I said, and promptly lost most of my negotiating room.

Others cleverer than I am may have strategies for getting a good deal out of state without revealing your intentions.
