How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Really starting to lose my patience with the Fresno area dealerships in California. Some just flat out don't want to work with you, others are just slow as can be.

Beginning to feel flying home to VA and purchasing there and driving the vehicle home is my best option.

Anyone recommend not doing this? Or have done this and have any pointers on what to do? I assume the main thing is to not let them know you're going there strictly because of that as they'd never want to lower the price.

Probably will check some of the closer states first before doing this, but so far nothing seems to be different.

I'm in SF and found my TRD Pro Cement in AZ. Got it at MSRP. The dealership was 15 min from the airport. My sales guy had another coming in at the end of the month as of last week. Minimal options added as well. I could help you connect if you're interested.

The first thing the salesman in Flagstaff asked me when I called was, "I see you're in the 818 area code. Are you in California?"

"Uh, yeah," I said, and promptly lost most of my negotiating room.

Others cleverer than I am may have strategies for getting a good deal out of state without revealing your intentions.

Do it all by email. I cannot stress this enough. Don't set foot in the dealership until you go to pick it up and only do that if they won't deliver it.

Just picked up a TRD ORP, MGM color, no moonroof, KDSS, running boards, roof rack cross bars and all weather floor mats w/cargo liner for $40,0488 + TTL. About the best deal I could find in the CA Bay area.

Forgot to add, I negotiated invoice pricing for a set of the black TRD Pro wheels. (Made sure the finance guy wrote that on the *promise* sheet.) We'll see how that really plays out given no one can even get them now, but at least it's in writing. :trophy:

So I try to specify what I am looking for through net sales and the price point and what options I do not want. I just get sent out PDF files of the wrong trim, options I don't want and prices way off from what I see here. Is this a socal thing?

I sent out over 20 emails when I decided to skip the Pro and start looking for an ORP. I only received about a half dozen replies. Of those replies, only one actually put together the quote as I asked. A couple just sent an email with the cost, and one totally pulled a bait and switch.

I lucked out as my local dealer had the vehicle I was looking for come in mid-week. I had been kind of working with their internet guy on a Pro so when I came in to look at the truck, I searched him out and didn't pull any punches. I told him "...here's my best quote. I want to keep the money local, but this isn't an emotional purchase. It's all about the bottom line cost. If you can beat the lowest quote I have, you get my business." All he asked for was to see the quote in writing. Showed him the email and that was that.

Stay strong man, it'll happen.

I paid $32,641 out the door for my 2017 classic silver TRD Off Road with Toyota platnium guard, all weather floor mats, clear paint protection, and Etune premium audio with navigation.

I paid about the same, out the door figure (within a couple hundred bucks), on an SR5 with a handful of accessories. It was a brand new 1996 Gen 3 (sold it after 14 great years and over 225K miles). I'd say you got a good deal.

I hope you get your promised deal! Currently dealing with some issues on my 4Runner and now that the dealer has made the sale, they are not as friendly as before.

Taxes suck for sure!

I recently purchased my 17 TRD Off-Road Premium with KDSS, moonroof, and sliding rear cargo tray for $41,250 in socal before taxes + other fees. After taxes was around $44,500ish if I recall.

Taxes were only paid on the difference between my trade and the purchase price which was $2258...which came out to $141.13 at 6.25%.

What issues are you having?

A few things that are souring the new car experience for me.

- passenger side door trim had a minor scuff at top, where the plastic trim meet the weather strip

-vehicle pulls to the right, either alignment or the steering is off center

-around 60-60mph the steering wheel shakes, doesn't happen all the time

- the dealer misplaced the Entune nav SD card and I'm trying to get a replacement. (I learned this at my appt, I told them the nav was working for my appt)

I was at the dealer this past Saturday for an appt I made for 9 am for the listed issues above. They made the appt for 7am, didn't list all of the above issues. Thankfully I got an email Friday about my appt so I had time to change it back to 9 am and get all of my issues on the repair order.

I get there at 8:45 and they take my car. A few hours later they call me and tell me that the SD card is missing so I talk to my sales guy to see if he can find it, he can't. They also don't want to fix the minor scruff as it's not a big issue and water won't get in, according to them. They can't do the alignment because they don't have the specs yet for the 2017 4Runner in their shop. They couldn't replicate the steering wheel vibrations nor the pull.

So I asked the manager to take a ride with me and I was able to show the pulling to the right and the vibration of the steering wheel at 60mph.

So in the end, I have to make a follow up appointment after they receive the 2017 specs at which point they'll align it and see if my issues go away. I'm working with my sales guy to get a replacement on the Entune SD cars. If I push for a repair to the scuff, they'll need to send me to a body shop.

I was there from 8:45am till about 2pm with none of my issues fixed. I made sure the manager knows that when I bring my car in again, they need to get me in at my appt time and work on it right away.

Phew! Thanks for letting me vent! Still love the hell out of my new 4Runner!

Mine did the same thing right off the lot, pissed me off. Alignment fixed the pulling and wheel balancing fixed the steering vibration. If you can, get a "Road Force Balance". If your dealer has the new machine they will know exactly what it is. You can search here to make sure. Road force balancing is the way to go.

42658 otd is what it was going to be....I told them 42,000 and they agreed.

2017 trd off road prem with sunroof, nav rear cargo retractable cover.

Every other dealer I called wouldn't sell me a trd off road premium with sunroof for less than 42k then plus TT&L...

my price was 39,082 and 42658 otd after taxes and such, but wrote check for 42,000 total.

Just picked up my wife's TRD Premium tonight.
$42k out the door.
Sticker was $42,837, no trade in.
Only options were sunroof, cross bars and black tube steps (which are gonna be for sale or scrap metal by tomorrow)
Also had tint and nitrogen add on which I told them to shove.
Overall I'm pleased, it was an in and out deal, they fought me for about 2 minutes on the price and that was it!

$37,868.03 for a new 2016 TE w/KDSS. Other options: Entune radio, roof rack cross bars, floor mats, and the all-important and indispensable chrome exhaust tip (adds a dyno-proven 20hp at the rear wheels).

This price includes an extortionate $499 for dealer profit adders: window tint, door edge guards, and "door cups" (basically the clear plastic sticky circles that bulk mailers use to seal multi-page ads, stuck on the car behind the door handles).

It also includes another bleed-the-customer $199 charge for one of those "preferred protection" plans that involve etching the VIN on the windows.

Try as I might, I could not get the dealer to budge on those items. Because I was willing to drive to Flagstaff, AZ from the L.A. area, the sales manager (correctly) figured he had me by the cojones.

Still, at least the base price was around invoice, and for those interested, I believe there's one more 2016 TE KDSS available in Magnetic Gray.

I just got up and told the salesman to give me back my paper work, and that's when all those accessories were left on the vehicle at no charge. Internet price was a good starting point to haggle from. But then again it's SoCal I paid MSRP for my Trail Premium with KDSS. Only 3 Trail Premiums within a 100 mile radius when I purchased mine. The two at Simi Valley Toyota and one at Longo Toyota.
